We’re still seeing a surprisingly small number of cards appearing on Amazon in both the US and UK (although plenty of scalped units are appearing on eBay). Demand just doesn’t seem to be quite as high this time around – possibly due to the $799 MSRP marking this theoretically “midrange” card as more of a premium offering.

It’s completely understandable; after all, the last-gen RTX 3070 Ti cost just $599 at launch, even if the stock was quickly gobbled up by crypto miners and bots. Anyone looking for a more affordable new GPU is probably best waiting for the desktop version of the RTX 4060 (which has already been announced for laptops) to roll around.

The stock is drying up slower than we expected, but it’s still selling. At the time of writing, we counted six separate RTX 4070 Ti models that were out of stock at Newegg, and two of the models on sale at Best Buy are also out of stock.

Still nothing from B&H Photo and Micro Center, though it’s entirely possible these retailers are holding stock for in-store sales before launching anything online. If you live near one of these sellers, you might want to consider going there to check out the stock situation before making an online purchase – you’ll probably have to wait for shipping even if you manage to get your hands on one.

Stock has now landed with Ekoper in the UK, although it looks like it now Overclockers still has the cheapest RTX 4070 Ti cards for UK buyers. However, several models at Overclockers have reverted to displaying a ‘pre-order’ button instead of purchase options, indicating that they are already sold out.

Astonishingly, it seems that we really are not we’ll see a huge sell-off of these cards on launch day, as we did with the previous two Nvidia GPUs and AMD’s rival Radeon RX 7900 XTX.

This may be due to the fact that anyone with a lot of money to spend on upgrading their gaming PCs is instead waiting for an RTX 4090 (or already owns one). The current economic climate probably also plays a role; either you have money to spend on a GPU or you don’t, and if you have, you’re more likely to opt for a card with better performance.

2023-01-05T15:26:39.726Z

It even includes a slew of reasonably priced RTX 4070 Ti models Newegg now. Most are slightly above the $799 figure quoted by Nvidia, but it’s not uncommon to see factory overclocked cards from other manufacturers throw a few bucks on top of the price – after all, in theory you’re getting a slightly better version of the GPU .

Red alert, everyone! An RTX 4070 Ti even sells for MSRP on launch day! We haven’t seen this in ages in the US, with all of the recent GPU launches being the scene of massive sell-offs, retail price gouging, and widespread scalping.

However, take a trip to Newegg and you can find this Zotac Trinity RTX 4070Ti for $799.99 – is that technically 99 cents higher than Nvidia’s actual retail price? We think so, but we’re willing to let this one slide.

Judging by the current stock situation, it looks like the UK is going to be demonstrating a replay of the RTX 4080 launch. While the card sold out immediately in America, UK buyers didn’t seem so enthused; probably a result of the current cost of living pressures that are hitting the UK hard.

That means we’re still seeing plenty of RTX 4070 Ti models for sale in the UK, with a bunch of different models available from Overclockers, where the best deals seem to be right now. Other retailers also carry stock, but it is often more expensive. Some cards up Scan are selling for a whopping £1,049!

2023-01-05T14:44:10.101Z

Newegg’s actual own stock is down, so forget about those expensive third-party sellers: you can get this Gigabyte Eagle OC RTX 4070 Ti now for $849.99. Nothing from B&H Photo yet, which means if the card is sold out elsewhere, that might be the best place to look.

2023-01-05T14:38:47.256Z

Somewhat surprisingly, we’re not seeing a large number of RTX 4070 Ti cards appear on Amazon just yet. One MSI model sells for a frankly ridiculous $1,299.99, and there’s nothing to see at all on Amazon in the UK.

At this point during the launch of the RTX 4090, we’ve already seen a number of scalped GPUs selling well above MSRP. This is a somewhat encouraging sight, although a quick trip to eBay shows a bunch of them for sale for prices over $1,000 — including one smart guy who says he’ll ship it as soon as he gets it on Jan. 12. So to be clear, that’s someone who placed an order for the card and couldn’t even wait for it to be delivered before putting it up on eBay. Some people…

In the UK it seems Overclockers is the place to be as Scan, Box and Ebuyer all offer the RTX 4070 Ti for £900 or more. You can grab this Zotac Trinity model (or one from Inno3D) for £848.99. If you are not a fan of those brands and are willing to pay a little more, you can get this Asus TUF RTX 4070 Ti for £869.99.

2023-01-05T14:24:44.713Z

Currently in the US, the cheapest RTX 4070 Ti we could find was at Best Buy: this MSI Ventus 3X OC model for $839.99, slightly above the MSRP of $799. As mentioned earlier, you’ll need a Best Buy account to create one, as the retailer tries to avoid another instant wave of scalpers selling – clearly learning from its mistakes of the launch of the RTX 4090.

Newegg has stock, but only from terribly expensive third-party sellers. Micro Center does not seem to have any units for sale. It looks like B&H Photo will be stocking the card, but it’s still marked ‘coming soon’ on the website, so keep an eye out for that card.

Ironically, it seems that Nvidia’s website links are playing. On the UK site, some links to retailers don’t seem to work – you can use our pinned links above to go straight to the relevant storefront!

And we’re gone! The Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti is officially on sale, although not all retailers have it available yet. If you’re in the US, it’s available from Best Buy at retail price, but you’ll need an account to buy it.

Meanwhile in the UK, Scan and Overclockers both have stock available, with prices starting at £848.99 and going up to around a thousand pounds. Stock will probably evaporate faster than the lukewarm RTX 4080, so be quick!

2023-01-05T13:13:28.145Z

A quick breakdown here of the RTX 4070 Ti models being promoted on Nvidia’s own website: While Team Green may have cut the US MSRP from $899 to $799 when it rebranded the RTX 4080 12GB as this GPU, it seems on it an external manufacturer does not play ball.

None of the “coming soon” cards listed on the Nvidia website cost $799 – the cheapest is an MSI model at $839.99, and some are priced at the original price of $899. be due to the fact that the manufacturers stuck with their original pricing plan for some cards – or they may have already taken an unseen blow when Nvidia renamed the GPU, as factory overclocked models are often a bit more expensive than those shipped direct from Nvidia.

It’s worth noting that there doesn’t appear to be a Founder’s Edition version of the RTX 4070 Ti. This isn’t entirely surprising as Nvidia tends to prioritize the most powerful cards for first-party FE variants, but it’s a bit unusual as there are used to be a Founder’s Edition RTX 3070 Ti in the previous generation.

2023-01-05T12:17:07.736Z

Don’t forget that we will very likely see scalpers appear once the card goes on sale. In fact, it seems that some sellers on Newegg are already willing to take advantage of the inevitable inventory shortages here; there have already been a number of RTX 4070 Ti models listed from independent sellers of varying degrees of vagueness, and virtually all of them are being offered for over $1,000 – well above Nvidia’s $799 MSRP.

Some of these cards are being sold for downright ridiculous prices, closer to that of the RTX 4090 (though of course you won’t find those at retail price right now either). Needless to say, don’t buy a 4070 Ti for $1,500!

2023-01-05T12:13:32.043Z

Unlike the launch of the RTX 4090, Nvidia has not given us a specific release timeline today. We can reasonably assume it will be tied to a US time zone, so readers in other time zones may have to wait a bit, even though it’s already January 5th.

While we wait for the RTX 4070 Ti stock to appear, check out our roundup of everything we know about the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti.

We’ll also be reviewing the GPU, but with CES 2023 happening at the same time, this will be delayed a bit.

When the RTX 4090 went on sale, it sold out almost immediately, and while the RTX 4080 eventually sold out, it took a little longer.

What happens when the RTX 4070 Ti goes on sale? It could sell out quickly because of its value proposition – being the cheapest GPU of the current RTX 4000 series, it could be more of an ‘impulse’ buy, and people disappointed not to get the RTX 4080 or even 4090 have been able to try to get the 4070 Ti to persuade them.

Today is the day! The Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti will go on sale sometime on Thursday, January 5. We don’t have an exact time yet, so we’ll keep an eye on it and will update this blog when stock starts to appear.

If Nvidia follows its earlier launches, we expect it to go on sale at 9am ET, which is 2pm GMT for people following in the UK.
