Where could Man United send Mason Greenwood out on loan?
Manchester United are considering sending Mason Greenwood on loan for the entire next season.
As Mail Sport revealed on Thursday, officials are looking into a move that would see the 21-year-old striker play abroad for a year.
It comes after charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior and assault against Greenwood were dropped in February.
United’s own internal investigation into the striker is underway and will decide what happens next for Greenwood, who still has two years left on his £75,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford.
It is very unlikely that Greenwood will be loaned to another Premier League club, but a temporary move to a foreign club is an opportunity to give United another period of reflection.
But where are the potential destinations for Greenwood if that happens?

TURKISH SUPERLIG
A number of Turkish clubs wanted to take Greenwood on loan earlier this year after the charges were dropped. However, United rejected these offers as their internal investigation had just begun.
As a result, Greenwood – who scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for United after appearing on the scene in 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – remained out of the game for half a season.
A move to Turkey’s Süper Lig – and most likely one of its leading clubs – would allow Greenwood to return to full form and fitness relatively under the radar of an English crowd.
It’s a competition that doesn’t have mainstream broadcast coverage in the UK, yet is of sufficient quality for Greenwood to be tested week in and week out.
Moving to a country on the other side of Europe would naturally cause a stir, especially as Greenwood becomes a father this summer.
The fiery atmosphere of Turkey’s big matches would surely rekindle the attacker’s passion for the game and he would probably score many goals when he is fully fit again.
United would probably like him to play European football again, but only the Istanbul ‘big three’ Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas have qualified so far.
Istanbul Basaksehir may follow if they win the final of the Turkish Cup on Sunday.
As there has already been interest in Greenwood from Turkish clubs, it could prove to be the easiest deal for United and would allow a fresh start from a football standpoint as the club decides on their next steps.
Turkey is being considered as a possible destination for a Greenwood loan – the passionate fans there would surely set the young striker on fire as he looks to resume his career

ITALIAN SERIES A
Italy has also been mentioned as a potential loan destination for Greenwood, with Serie A offering a higher level of football.
The competition has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts this season with Inter Milan reaching the Champions League final, AC Milan reaching the semi-finals and champions Napoli reaching the quarter-finals.
Roma reached the final of the Europa League and Fiorentina reached the final of the Europa Conference League. So United can be sure that Greenwood will be challenged every time he plays.
However, the high profile of these top clubs can cause problems. Will they risk reputational damage by taking Greenwood on board?
Greenwood’s last action was Manchester United’s victory over West Ham on January 22 last year
If United decide to reintegrate Greenwood in the long term, manager Erik Ten Hag would want him to play at a good level during a loan spell to get back to full form and fitness.
If Mail sports According to reports, a move to an American-owned club such as AC Milan could prove difficult. Roma, Atalanta and Fiorentina also have US or partial US ownership.
While Serie A would provide a more challenging environment, it would also bring more media attention. Every match he plays in is shown live in the UK, with the Italian press getting more coverage.
Given the last time Greenwood kicked a football on January 22 last year – a 1-0 Man United win over West Ham – there would be more pressure to get off the ground and more competition for places if he didn’t, especially at a leading club.
If United decided their long-term goal was to re-integrate Greenwood into their squad, a season of solid performances and a rebuilding of confidence in a top league like Serie A, and probably a European league, would be incredibly helpful.
SPANISH LALIGA
In the same vein, Spain’s LaLiga would be a good challenge for Greenwood when he returns to the football field.
We probably won’t see him flourish at Real Madrid or Barcelona, but a mid-tier team might see the benefits of hiring a player who has enough to prove for a year.
Any club that did loan Greenwood would have to risk potential reputational damage
Greenwood would benefit from the competitive environment and it’s doubtful Spanish fanbases would care too much about the backstory.
But as with Italy, a club may be more sensitive to the Greenwood take, given the competition’s global popularity.
SAUDI PRO LEAGUE
It is the only competition currently in the spotlight.
Saudi clubs, funded by the country’s sovereign wealth, are being encouraged to sign some of the best-known footballers in the world.
But their policy seems to be acquiring stars in the twilight of their careers and wanting one last payday – Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema et al.
The Saudi rulers apparently want 20-25 of these high-profile names to be lured and trickled into their clubs in the coming months.
So while the Pro League will get a lot more attention, there’s little point in it being Greenwood’s destination, and the standard isn’t good enough either.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the main star in the Pro League, but it doesn’t make sense for Greenwood
REINTEGRATION AT UNITED
Of course, there is a chance that United will finalize their internal investigation sooner rather than later and decide, with the blessing of Erik ten Hag and the executives, to bring Greenwood back into the side ahead of next season.
After all, finding the net has been a problem for United last season, especially when compared to their Premier League rivals.
They will certainly tackle this by signing a top-class striker this summer, but they cannot carry the burden alone.
Greenwood, who showed impressive finishing ability before this hiatus, could be part of the solution.
But there are some obstacles to this. It is clear that the squad is divided on whether Greenwood should be brought back and opinions must be gathered.
There are also reports that members of United’s women’s team are “very uncomfortable” at the prospect of his return.
Their views should also be taken into consideration before Greenwood returns.
