The final shape raid Comes to Lot 2, and you take on The Witness as the conclusion to what Bungie calls the Light and Darkness saga. But why is the raid coming out two weeks earlier than usual? The final shape?
In this Lot 2 guide, we will tell you when you can play The final shape raid and explain why Bungie is breaking convention with the release date.
When will The Final Shape Raid appear in Destiny 2?
In one of the studios weekly Destiny blog postsBungie has announced this The final shape the raid will start Friday, June 7 at 1 a.m. ETjust three days after the expansion’s June 4 release date.
This is when the raid will launch in your time zone:
- 10am PDT off the west coast of North America
- 1am EDT off the east coast of North America
- 6pm BST for Great Britain
- 7pm CEST for Western Europe/Paris
- Saturday June 8 at 2am for Tokyo
Bungie has not yet announced the name The final shape raid, and probably only the day before release, on June 6. It will be available to all players who own it The final shape expansion and have beaten the first seven missions of the expansion campaign, as well as the ‘Wild Card’ mission.
Why is the Final Shape raid launching early?
If you have a Lot 2 veteran, you may be a little confused by the timeline here. Typically, Bungie gives players just under two weeks – about ten days – to complete a new expansion’s campaign and prepare for the raid. However, most raids involve a final boss that is only tangentially related to the expansion’s main boss, and not the primary antagonist itself.
Since Bungie announced it The final shapethe studio has made it clear that The Witness will be the final boss of the raid. This is a huge step for Bungie, and something the developers have wanted to do for a long time. In a Polygon interview for Lot 2from 2022 Witch Queen expansion, I spoke with Joe Blackburn, now former Lot 2 game director, about whether we would ever see the great evil of an expansion in the raid again. Blackburn expressed a desire to do that eventually, but said the studio needed to get more players into raids first. Two and a half years later, it looks like Bungie is now confident enough to make that move – likely due to the new in-game Fireteam Finder that the studio recently added to the game.
Because the raid is such a big cog The final shape‘s story, Bungie has provided clarity that it didn’t want players to have to wait nearly two weeks to finish the story and play the campaign’s eighth mission, which will only become available once players (presumably) defeat The Witness during the raid. The completion of the raid will also lead to the release of Lot 2‘s first episode — Bungie’s replacement for seasons — arriving in the game on Tuesday, June 11.
