How did they get here?
Messi announced his arrival in American football with a winning free kick against Cruz Azul in the opening game of the competition.
They followed that up with a 4-0 defeat of Atlanta United – where Messi picked up a brace.
In the Round of 32, Floridian rivals Orlando City were beaten 3-1, with the Argentinian again scoring twice.
It all led up to Sunday night’s round of 16 game, with Messi scoring the first and fourth goals for his team before converting a penalty to help win the game.
