Taking a sharp swipe at the Opposition, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar on Friday asserted that those who thought they were outside the system will now be held accountable. He said some people will take to the streets when the law comes into effect.
He also wondered how someone who breaks the law plays the victim card. “People are playing,” he said.
His comments come in the backdrop of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rally here on Sunday, which was held to protest the ruling BJP’s alleged misuse of central agencies and the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal , by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). a money laundering case related to the alleged excise tax “scam”.

Besides, the Congress has accused the BJP-led central government of misusing institutions like the Income Tax Department, the ED and the CBI to undermine democracy.

“But what do we see – as soon as the law takes its course, they take to the streets, high-decibel debates, with guilt of the worst kind camouflaged by human rights. This is happening under our noses,” he said.
He asked what the justification is for individuals or institutions and organizations to take to the streets when the law comes into effect.
“Can you go on a high moral ground that the corrupt should not be dealt with because it is the festive season, the farming season? How can there be a season to save those who are guilty?” he asked.
He also asserted that the Indian judiciary has proven its strength and independence.
