Originally a mod of Modern Warfare 2Prop Hunt made its first official appearance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remastered as a temporary mode in Weekend Warfare before being voted to become a permanent game mode.

Since then, Prop Hunt has appeared in every subsequent Call of Duty title until 2020 Black Ops Cold Warwhere it last appeared.

If you want to see what Prop Hunt was like in previous Call of Duty titles, check out this chaotic, yet hilarious video from oldtime101:

Prop Hunt follows the rules of hide and seek and you are given the role of Prop or Hunter. As Prop, your job is to disguise yourself as an object you find on the map and avoid elimination by blending in with your surroundings until time runs out. If you are spotted, you can run, disguise yourself as a new object, drop decoy tools and throw stun grenades at the hunters. Be careful though, because you’ll be blowing a loud whistle every 30 seconds to attract the Hunters.

As a hunter, your job is to track down the props by looking for anything unusual. Look for lost objects, running objects or even whistling objects and take them out in any way you can. Whether you become a Prop or a Hunter, take a moment to escape the rankings and skin rut and enjoy the silly side of Call of Duty.
