Wheel of Fortune fans left in a frenzy after contestant’s embarrassing slip-up cost her over $7,000

Outraged Wheel of Fortune fans shared their frustration over a contestant who lost more than $7,000 after making a big mistake.

On April 30, contestant Kimberly Wright of Apopka, Florida came so close to winning $7,250 but made an embarrassing mistake that sent fans into a panic.

The participant reached the express lap, where the remaining letters on the board read ‘DU _ _ โ€“ _ _ LLED PLATYPUS.’

The crowd started cheering as the answer, which was ‘duck-billed platypus’, was clear to them.

But Wright decided to suggest the letter ‘F’ because she thought the answer was ‘duck stuffed platypus’. The audience groaned, knowing she had made the wrong choice.

Wright was wrong, so rival Marie Kioski completed the puzzle on her turn and won $7,250. She also won a pass to the Puerto Rican Margaritaville Vacation Club Rio Mar.

Wheel of Fortune was baffled by Wright’s wrong answer and made their opinion known on social media.

โ€œOh dear, that was painful. F??’ a fan on X, wrote. ‘Did she think the platypus was stuffed? with what exactly? #Wheel of Fortune’

“Where did this lady think an F would end up in this puzzle?” sounded another.

“I’ve never been so furious watching Wheel of Fortune,” said a third.

“A duck-stuffed platypus!?” another fan wrote in disbelief.

โ€œOh, I hope Red isn’t on social media. She’s getting hit for missing that puzzle,โ€ one viewer commented.

The episode, which aired nearly a month after Wheel of Fortune veteran Pat Sajak taped his final show, was hosted by Sajak.

Sajak’s final show, which he hosted for more than 40 years, will air on Friday, June 7, according to Deadline. The farewell episode was recorded on April 5.

The legendary presenter confirmed he would retire in June 2023.

โ€œWell, the time has come,โ€ Sajak wrote in a statement. โ€œI have decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a beautiful ride and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Thank you very much to all of you. (If anything, it keeps the clickbait sites busy!)

His co-host, Vanna White, responded: “When we started @WheelofFortune, who would have thought we’d still be at it 41 seasons later? I couldn’t be happier to be on stage with you all these years shared with someone else to come. Cheers to you, @patsajak!โ€

Ryan Seacrest was confirmed to be taking over as host for season 42, a week after Sajak’s news broke.
