Wheel of Fortune contestant makes ’embarrassing’ mistake that leaves viewers in stitches
A Wheel of Fortune contestant may have lost the game, but he won the hearts of the internet.
A word puzzle in the ‘food and drink’ category was answered as the contestant searched for the answer – much to the amusement of onlookers.
Six letters were left blank on the puzzle to spell NE_ _OR_ _HEESE_A_E.
Contestant Gaelyn answered confidently, blurting out, “New York Cheese…steak.”
Unfortunately for Gaelyn, the answer – while still delicious – was New York Cheesecake.
Amused users took to social media to laugh at the unfortunate mistake.
“Oh damn… So close…” one user wrote.
“Did this dumba** really say New York Cheesesteak instead of Cheesecake?!?” My goodness,” another shocked user wrote.
Contestant Gaelyn confidently answered the puzzle, blurting out, “New York Cheese…steak.”
“A new, all-time terrible answer to Wheel,” declared another.
Contestant Carmetta was more on the money with her answer: ‘New York Cheesecake’ correct.
Carmetta won the match overall, telling host Ryan Seacrest that the match was over ‘Such a blur.’
She ended up winning over $68,000 in cash and prizes, with Vanna having to reassure her that her prizes were very real.
In December, Wheel of Fortune fans lost out when one contestant made a rather unfortunate blunder, just a month after another viral ‘missolve’.
Phil McManus, from Palmer, Massachusetts, got up to $9,800 on a three-word puzzle with the same letters filled in with the first two words: chocolates and chestnuts.
After buying the last vowel – I – the third word was reduced to CHI_NE_S.
He decided to solve ‘Chocolate Chestnuts and Chickens’, but Phil soon revealed that this was incorrect.
Unfortunately for Gaelyn, the answer – while still delicious – was in fact New York Cheesecake

The next contestant – Matt Komma, from Riverton, Utah, solved it immediately, with the correct answer: “Chocolate chestnuts and chimneys.”
Wheel of Fortune fans quickly took to social media to call out Phil for the mistake, including @WheelRob10.
He shared a screenshot of Phil’s mistake, adding: ‘That was my shopping list last weekend. #RadofFortuin.’
Another user, @CouplaColdies, shared a video with the incorrect answer, adding: ‘Christmas themed episode of Wheel of Fortune!
“And this was the contestant’s guess.”
“I love Wheel of Fortune but where do these contestants come from #chickens #wheeloffortune,” the fan added.
