Whether it's a friend's address or a colleague's birthday, you often have to scroll through your messages to find the most important details.

But your thumb can finally get a break, thanks to WhatsApp's latest feature.

The messaging app now lets you pin important messages to the top of WhatsApp chats.

'Pinned messages make it easy to highlight important messages in group or 1:1 chats. This helps users save time so they can find current messages more easily,” WhatsApp explains.

Here's how to try out the new feature for yourself.

Pin a message

  1. Open the WhatsApp app and select the chat where you want to pin a message.
  2. Scroll through the message and long press it.
  3. The context menu will appear with the new option to pin the message.
  4. Select the duration of the pinned message: 24 hours, seven days of 30 days.

To pin a message, simply open the WhatsApp app and select the chat in which you want to pin a message.

You will then be asked to select the duration of the pinned message.

Although the default duration is seven days, you can also choose to hold the message for 24 hours or 30 days.

If you decide to pin a message in a group chat, the group admins can determine which members can pin messages.

Fortunately, like all WhatsApp message types, pinned messages are end-to-end encrypted.

WhatsApp posted about the new feature onX (formerly Twitter) and several users expressed their joy.

“I've been waiting for this for a long time,” one user replied, while another called it “very practical.”

And someone joked: 'I just heard that WhatsApp now allows you to pin messages.

“Finally, my important messages can get a reserved seat in the front row of the chat theater.”
