WhatsApp is angering users for the second time in a week as it introduces bizarre green features – with one saying ‘we don’t like change, leave us alone!’

Earlier this week, WhatsApp angered users after introducing capital letters in the ‘Online’ and ‘Typing’ tags.

After a huge backlash on social media, the tech giant quickly backtracked on the change, claiming the app was “now returning to normal.”

However, it seems the strange tests are far from complete, with many people noticing bizarre green features in the app.

Several users have expressed their annoyance on X (formerly Twitter), with one saying: ‘We don’t like change.’

‘First the “Online” and “Typing” changes, now the green notifications, green spell check, green cursor, green everything. “But it’s branding’… No. We don’t like change. Leave us alone,” the user tweeted.

The new green features were quietly added this week and include green icons within search, a green cursor, green notifications, and a green spell checker.

While this may sound like a small change, it hasn’t gone down well with users.

“Why is my WhatsApp green yuck,” one user tweeted.

Another said: ‘Why did my WhatsApp suddenly turn green??’

And one vented: ‘Whatsapp. I beg on my knees – change the details back to blue. It’s way too green for me.’

The problem for many users seems to be the specific shade of green that WhatsApp has chosen.

“What the hell is happening with ugly shades of green on WhatsApp,” one user tweeted.

Meanwhile, another wrote: ‘I’ve never seen an uglier shade of green than what’s happening on WhatsApp.’

MailOnline has contacted WhatsApp for comment on the new green features, and whether or not they are permanent.

They come just days after WhatsApp angered users with a subtle change to the app.

‘Online’ and ‘Typing’ – words that appear in your chats under the other user’s name – have changed from the first letters in lowercase to a capital ‘O’ and a capital ‘T’.

Many users weren’t happy with it, with one claiming it “hurt my soul.”

If the capitalization is bothering you, there’s good news: WhatsApp has confirmed it’s reverting to the change.

“This was just a small test, but now it is returning to normal,” a spokesperson said.
