What to spend Tomestones of Poetics on in FFXIV

While you play Final fantasy 14you will amass tons of a specific currency Allagan Tomestones of Poetics. This currency has a limit of 2,000, so you should spend it instead of wasting the extras you let into the ether. If you’re just starting out, it can be difficult to figure out where to spend them.

Keep that in mind you’re not going to make millions in profits from Poetics. Every player above level 50 has Poetics, so there is a huge surplus. When a new expansion comes out, you can buy the stuff from the previous expansion with Poetics, so they’re just a one-size-fits-all way to buy old stuff. However, there are many valuable personal applications for Poetics!

Where to spend Tomestones of Poetics in FFXIV

You can trade in your poetics in the hub city of each expansion (Mor Dhona, Idyllshire, etc.), but Rowena’s representative suppliers sell everything to the Stormblood expansion, saving you the trip. (You still have to go to Eulmore to get it Shadowbringers articles.)

You can find these NPCs on the map in most hub cities near the main Aetheryte, as indicated by the blue bag icon:

Below we list a few things to dump them on, in order of our personal preference.

Leveling equipment for combat tasks

You can get Augmented Ironworks (level 50) equipment, Augmented Shire (level 60) equipment, and Augmented Scaevan (level 70) equipment from a Rowena’s representative NPC. However, you need to go to Eulmore to get Augmented Cryptlurker gear (level 80).

This stuff is pretty strong and it will get you most of the way to the next benchmark before you need to upgrade.

Relic weapon materials

If you’re interested, you can purchase the materials for some of the relic weapons from the previous Poetics expansions. You just need to buy Thavnairian Scalepowder for the Shadowbringers relic weapon, but the An empire reborn relics and Heavenward relics require an abundance of different materials.

An empire reborn/ Zodiac weapons require:

  • 1 Radz-at-Han extinguishing oil
  • 3 Thavnairian mist
  • 9 Brave Books (a quest item that can only be purchased when you are on the step that requires these items)
  • 3 Superior Enchanted Ink
  • 15 mystery cards (to get Alexandrite, which you can also get for Allied Seals)
  • 4 Holy spring water
  • 12 Mahatma (another quest item that can only be purchased during this step)

Heavenward/ Anima weapons require:

  • 10 Unidentifiable ore
  • 10 unidentifiable shells
  • 10 unidentifiable bones
  • 10 unidentifiable seeds
  • 5 Aether oil
  • ~60 Umbrite
  • ~150 Superior Enchanted Ink
  • ~150 Thavnairian Mist (this and the ink are needed to make Crystal Sand, which can also be obtained in exchange for Blue Scrip Tokens)
  • 50 song clusters
  • 15 Pneumite
  • 1 archaic enchanted ink

That said, you can stock up on a lot of this stuff if you ever plan on retrieving relic weapons. Yes!

Orchestrions

An empire reborn, HeavenwardAnd Stormblood they all have orchestrarion scrolls that you can purchase from Rowena’s representative for various prices if you want to collect the game’s music.

Equipment to trade for Grand Company stamps

Okay, here’s the thing. When all your combat tasks are at max level and you no longer need the Cryptlurker (or older) gear, you can purchase it and then turn it in to your Grand Company for company seals. It is best to buy rings as they are the cheapest and still yield around 1,700 stamps. You must be Sergeant second class rank or higher on your respective GC.

This way you can use GC stamps to buy things, for example Enterprises, GC Aetheryte Tickets, Glamor prismseven Material containers, which are essentially RNG lootboxes for old minions and even mounts, if you’re lucky. If you don’t have it yet, you can also purchase emotes, orchestrarion scrolls, and chocobo bardings.

Unidentifiable ore to exchange for Grade 3 Thanalan topsoil

This is Real the last way out. If you have all of the above (or if you really don’t want that stuff), the land market always is fine. To get it, you’ll need to trade your Poetics for Unidentifiable Ore (yes, the same one you need for the Anima weapon) and then head to Idyllshire. To talk with Bertana at Mowena’s Center for Cultural Promotion and select ‘Uncanny Knickknacks’ to trade your ore for the topsoil.

Most of the materials you trade Poetics for are extremely old and have little to no value anymore. However, topsoil is almost always in use (although the price does fluctuate), because you need high-quality soil to cross specific plants (such as the highly valuable Thavnairian Onion).

Some players will note that they would rather overdo their Poetics than even bother selling land, but that’s up to you.
