What Meghan Markle wrote about Kate Middleton in 2014

She has insisted on numerous occasions that she knew very little about the royal family before she met Prince Harry, but Meghan Markle certainly knew about one of his relatives – Kate Middleton.

A blog post from the Duchess of Sussex’s now-defunct website, The Tig, reveals her feelings about royal princesses before she met Prince Harry — and they’re not entirely flattering.

The former actress reflected on the “splendor and circumstance” of “Princess Kate’s” marriage, making a rather scathing reference to “grown women” harboring “childhood fantasies” about fairytale princesses.

The 2014 entry, written by Meghan during her time with Suits, spoke of her own childhood dream of becoming “She-Ra, Princess of Power.”

A blog post from Meghan Markle’s now-defunct website The Tig referenced Prince William’s lavish wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011, and the Duchess appeared to have a vague take on “childhood fantasies” about fairy princesses

Describing her icon, she wrote, “We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here,” then went on to mention the “endless conversation” about Kate Middleton’s lavish wedding to Prince William in 2011.

Speaking of her own childhood fantasies, she said, “Little girls dream of being princesses. For example, I was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power.

For those of you unfamiliar with the 1980s cartoon reference, She-Ra is He-Man’s twin sister and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength.

“We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here.

Grown women seem to hold on to this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and the endless conversations about Princess Kate.’

Launched in 2014, Meghan’s blog is named after her favorite Tignanello wine.

Thinking back to her first sip, she wrote, “It was an ah-ha moment at best. For me it became a ‘Tig’ moment – a moment to get it.”

Meghan’s longtime friend, Suits director and producer Silver Tree, explained in the Harry and Meghan Netflix docuseries: “When she first described [the blog] to me, she was like, “It’s like having your best friend tell you all the fun stuff you wish you knew in one place.”‘

Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018 was a lavish affair – despite her comments about fairytale princesses

She used the website to share her thoughts on everything from feminism to her passion for philanthropy.

An avid foodie, she also shared recipes — as well as makeup and beauty tips, travel advice, and interviews with her celebrity friends, including tennis star Serena Williams and actress Priyanka Chopra.

She closed the site in 2017 before announcing her engagement to Harry, describing it as a “passion project” that “grow into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity.”

Meghan’s own version of a fairytale ‘royal wedding’ came in May 2018 when she married Prince Harry and became the Duchess of Sussex.

It came with its own pomp as Meghan was walked down the aisle by Charles, now King, at a service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.

Meghan claimed not to know much about the royal family before meeting Prince Harry, but she certainly knew about her sister-in-law Kate Middleton (pictured together on Christmas Day 2018 in Sandringham)

The occasion was also mired in drama, described by Prince Harry in his explosive memoir Spare.

Harry said Kate messaged Meghan days before the wedding saying there was a problem with the bridesmaid dresses, particularly Princess Charlotte’s.

He claims that Meghan tried to send Kate to the tailor at the palace to get it fixed.

According to Harry, Kate told Meghan that Charlotte’s dress was too big for her and that she cried when she tried it on.

The Duke also wrote that this wasn’t the only problem Kate had with the planning of the wedding, citing a problem with a party for the pageboys, but didn’t go into details.

After the conversation, Harry said he came home to find Meghan sobbing on the kitchen floor, overwhelmed with stress and worry.

He added that Kate arrived at the house the next day with a card and flowers of apology.
