‘What HAS the world come to?’ McDonald’s customer is left outraged after being charged $7.29 for single Egg McMuffin at Connecticut restaurant
A McDonald’s customer was left stunned after paying $7.29 for a single Egg McMuffin while driving through Connecticut.
Bespoke Investment Group posted a photo of the customer’s receipt with the caption “$7.29 for one McDonald’s Egg McMuffin.” What happened to the world?? These were recently 2 for 2 dollars.”
The bill includes the purchase of two Egg McMuffins for $14.58 and one Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddle without two half strips of bacon for $7.19.
Other users called the charges “outrageous” and “absurd.”
One pointed out that the McDonalds in question, at 165 Round Hill Road in Fairfield, is located at an I-95 stop, where prices are often higher than at regular stores.

McDonald’s prices vary between states and locations, such as rest areas
The location is located in North Service Plaza along Interstate 95, near exit 21-22.
“That McDonald’s is in a Service Rest Area on I-95 so it should be higher, but it’s way too high,” another user wrote under the post, which has been viewed more than 1.8 million times.
McDonald’s prices also vary between states. Marketing manager Sacha Fournier created the website McCheapest.com, which tracks prices across the country.
The stores are all individually owned and operated by franchisees and can therefore set their own prices.
These prices can vary depending on labor costs, rental prices, gas prices and a number of other factors.
Another customer in Idaho was also shocked to discover the combo deal prices in December.
Topher Olive, was visiting one of the restaurant’s locations in Post Falls when he picked up a Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with Cheese, a Large Boy and a Large Sprite, which set him back $16.10.
He shared a video of his meal, where he has more than 334,000 followers, and admitted he was shocked at the price.

He was visiting one of the fast food chain’s locations in Post Falls, Idaho, when he ordered a Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with cheese, a big boy and a Sprite.
“McDonald’s, so I understand there’s a labor shortage. I understand there are pay increases and some other things. Only $16?’ he asked as he zoomed over his receipt.
“Sixteen dollars for a burger, a big boy and a drink,” he repeated. “It’s just crazy.”
The incident is even said to have spooked the Biden administration after critics claimed it was yet another symptom of rising inflation that has hit the pocketbooks of millions of Americans.
McDonald’s was among several other fast-food chains to raise their prices in 2021 to account for inflation and increased labor costs.
US menu prices in the third quarter were about 10 percent higher than the previous year in the July-September period.
Topher’s video has been viewed more than 187,000 times, and a few thousand people flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.

‘Five Guys prices at McDonald’s?!?’ someone asked.
“It’s officially no longer convenient or affordable,” wrote another. “You might as well go to the store and buy hamburger meat.”
“I make a lot more of my own food these days (thanks to) things like this,” someone else added.
“I eat 90% of the food I cook and this really shocked me,” Topher responded.
However, not everyone was sympathetic.
A number of people pointed out that he had purchased one of the most expensive items on the menu and had not used the McDonald’s app.
“Bro ordered the most expensive meal they have and reacted with surprise,” one viewer commented, while someone else noted, “Bro clearly didn’t use the app.”
“Download the app,” someone else advised. “You can literally eat McDonald’s every time for less than $6.”
