What determined the financial agenda in 2024? Was it Labor that came to power in Britain, Donald Trump winning another bid for the American presidency, or that interest rates were cut from their peak – but not as much as expected.
The past year was another tumultuous year, but provided plenty of opportunities to profit as the US stock market rose again, bitcoin shot through $100,000 and savings rates remained above 5 percent.
For some, however, it was bad news for their finances as the shock of the big jumps in mortgage payments hit them in the pockets.
On this end-of-year podcast, Georgie Frost, Lee Boyce and Simon Lambert look back on the big financial news of 2024 – and look forward to the future where we will become richer in 2025.
