Mud and Magic Mike star Matthew McConaughey’s recent public outing has shocked fans, who claim his appearance has ‘changed’.
Fans took to social media this week to report that the 54-year-old actor looked “different” when he appeared at a gala dinner last week with his wife Camila Alves, 41.
Some suspect that his nose is a different shape and that his eyes have changed color.
Some even go so far as to say that it does not resemble him, but that it is a ‘doppelganger’.
But a plastic surgeon claims the Texas-born actor owes his gaunt features to weight loss.

One social media user, @Scuba_duba_posted footage of the gala dinner on TikTok, saying he looked “different.”
Commentators pointed out his eyes, indicating that they are now brown, whereas before they were blue.
In another TikTok, posted by @1mothastuckaCommentators say his nose has changed shape and some claim he may have lost weight or taken the Ozempic diet shot.
There was also speculation on social media site X with @darnelSugarfoo also asking ‘wtf happened’ about his face. Someone even said he was a ‘double’.
Another social media user @MerrittKelly1 also posted on X that he looked “really skinny and kind of angry.” She added, “I wonder if he lost a lot of weight for a movie role.”

But aesthetic doctors have a more logical explanation for his change in appearance than the actor being a “doppelganger.”
Sir Reza Nassaba plastic and reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon in Manchester and Cheshire, suggests that he has not had any facial plastic surgery but has simply lost some weight.
‘I personally do not believe that Matthew McConaughey has had a nose job. I think the change in the size and shape of his nose can be attributed to weight loss, particularly in his face,’ he told MailOnline.
He explained that McConaughey’s sunken cheeks and the supposed change in the shape of his nose could both be the result of fat loss.
“When someone loses significant weight, the reduction in facial fat can make facial features, including the nose, appear more defined and prominent,” he added.
‘This natural change in appearance due to weight loss can often lead people to think that cosmetic surgery has taken place, but in this case the change in his face could just as easily have been a result of his weight loss.’
This isn’t the first time McConaughey has radically changed his appearance.
McConaughey claimed that after growing tired of only starring in romantic comedies, he took a two-year break from Hollywood between 2010 and 2012 and nearly quit the industry.
But he made a comeback in his role as Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club in 2014, losing 60 pounds for the Oscar-nominated film.
The actor, who prepares meticulously for every role, admitted to the Radio Times that he survived on a diet of Diet Coke, egg whites and a piece of chicken a day to lose weight to just under 100 pounds.
The weight loss left him with hollow cheeks, but the weight soon came back.

The actor also starred in True Detective, alongside his good friend Woody Harrelson
Although the actor has never said he takes Ozempic, some fans have suggested that his change in appearance could be a result of the diet shot.
The fat burner does not discriminate which fat it targets.
That’s because the drugs mimic GLP-1, a hormone produced naturally in the body that slows the passage of food through the stomach, making people feel less hungry.
This changes appetite regulation in the brain, making people feel full even though they eat less, and they no longer crave treats.
As a result, people eat less and lose weight, but not just belly fat.
It can also remove fat from the face, which can make many people look gaunt. This is also known as the ‘Osmpic face’.
This is a clear sign that people may be suffering from sunken eyes, sunken cheeks and sagging skin.
Because the fat in our face provides smooth, full cheeks and a wrinkle-free forehead, losing fat quickly can make people look much older, much faster.
Famous people who have achieved an “Osmpic face” either through the use of such drugs or other weight loss methods include Robbie Williams, Scott Disick and Sharon Osbourne.
