Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor caused a stir when he unveiled his all-time Premier League XI.

Some fans took issue with Agbonlahor, claiming that former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic would not be near the team.

He then named four Premier League greats who he believed were much better than the Serbian defender.

Vidic is hailed as one of the best central defenders in English top flight history.

‘Van Dijk is better than Vidic. 100%.

‘(Virgil) Van Dijk & (Vincent) Kompany about Vidic. JT (John Terry) & Rio (Ferdinand) are the best.”

Vidoc joined Manchester United from Spartak Moscow in 2006 in a £7 million transfer, forming a centre-back partnership with Rio Ferdinand.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side won a hat-trick of Premier League titles between 2007 and 2009 and won the Champions League in 2008.

Vidic won two more league titles, in 2011 and 2013, and three League Cups.

Ferdinand praised Vidic as a ‘complete’ defender.

He said: “He became a defender who was feared.

‘He could fight with the most physical, he crunched into tackles and he attacked the ball better than anyone I’ve ever seen.

‘But, as he will tell you with a smile, he could also play with the ball, which made him complete and a great defender.’
