Mastering skills in FF16

Mastering skills FinalFantasy 16 can lead to many different results depending on what you are upgrading. To see what mastering a skill will change, go to the skills menu and hover over a skill. Then press the triangle to see the skill’s details, upgrades, mastery, and combat techniques.

The mastery of each skill is not the same, but they will tend to follow the same pattern. If the skill is an Eikon’s skill, such as Phoenix’s Rising Flames, you can assign the mastered skill to an Eikon. For example, if you use Phoenix and Garuda and master Phoenix’s Rising Flames, you can trade one of Garuda’s abilities for Rising Flames.

Eikonic Feats, such as Phoenix’s Phoenix Shift, don’t follow the same route as abilities. You cannot apply them to any Eikon, but the ability itself will be upgraded. For example, mastering Phoenix Shift will increase the distance you can travel. Any other skill that doesn’t fit in an Eikon’s skill slot also receives a unique upgrade. Magic Burst’s mastery expands the trigger window; Charged Magic’s mastery reduces charging time; Stomp’s mastery increases the maximum number of kicks to two, and so on.

Ultimately, if you’re wondering if mastering a skill is worth it for you, check out the details of the skill first. You can also redeem your skill points at no extra cost, so test each skill! If you don’t like the mastered skill, you can always get all your skill points back for free and spend them elsewhere.
