What did Carrie Underwood do to her face? Cosmetic experts’ verdict as fans accuse singer of ‘too much plastic surgery’

Country music icon Carrie Underwood is almost unrecognizable these days from her time on American Idol nearly two decades ago, where she famously defeated Bo Bice.

After performing at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Times Square, social media erupted, calling her glow-up “stunning” and “drop dead gorgeous.”

But others accused the 41-year-old Before He Cheats singer of having too much plastic surgery.

“You don’t even look like Carrie!” wrote one. “Stop the plastic surgery already,” said another.

“How many surgeries has she had since then?” a third wondered.

The star – who joined American Idol as a judge last year – has been open about undergoing surgery after a nasty fall in 2017 that left her needing more than 40 stitches in her face.

However, she never admitted to having cosmetic work done and what exactly the surgery entailed.

But experts have now weighed in, suggesting Carrie’s face shows the signs of a series of procedures.

Dr. Daniel Barrett, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, said he suspects the singer – who is married to retired hockey player Mike Fisher – has had a nose job, lip filler and Botox.

In one TikTok videoseen more than 313,000 times, he said: ‘If you look at the nose you see more of a wave and a pinched tip, which could indicate a possible rhinoplasty.

“I think the lips look like they’ve had some work done on them.”

“I love Carrie Underwood, but this is my unbiased opinion of what she did.”

A rhinoplasty, commonly called a rhinoplasty, involves surgery performed from the nostrils (a closed rhinoplasty) or by making a small incision in the nose.

By breaking and repositioning the nasal bone, a surgeon can also reduce the width of the nose and achieve a narrower appearance.

“The other thing is that her cheeks look quite full and her forehead is completely flat,” Dr. Barrett said.

“She probably had some kind of Botox or some filler in the cheeks.”

Anti-wrinkle injections such as Botox relax the muscles in the face to smooth out lines and wrinkles.

“I think the chin looks great,” he added.

“But if you look back at her previous photos, her chin is quite prominent there too, so I don’t think she had a chin implant.”

Meanwhile, Stacy Silverman, a nurse practitioner injector from Northbrook, Illinois, told her TikTok followers Carrie had probably had cheek and lip filler as well as Botox.

“I think she got her nasolabial folds done too,” she added. “I absolutely love her and she is flawless.”

Nasolabial folds – also called “smile lines” or “laugh lines” – develop naturally as you age or use your facial muscles frequently to smile or laugh.

Treatments to minimize their appearance may include filler, laser treatment or chemical peels.

In 2017, Carrie opened up about undergoing surgery after taking a nasty fall on the stairs outside her Nashville home while walking her dogs late at night.

After the accident, which resulted in 40 stitches to her face and a broken wrist, the Oklahoma-born singer admitted she felt compelled to speak out to avoid being accused of plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons.

She told Ellen DeGeneres show in 2018: ‘I feel like I look a little different. My biggest concern at the time was, if I don’t say anything and later… I feel like people will say, ‘What did she voluntarily do to herself?’

‘And it certainly wasn’t a choice. I feel close to myself. I feel pretty normal.’

That same year, the Grammy Award winner addressed rumors that she had had a “nose job” or “other work” done on her face, according to USA Today.

She said: ‘The truth is just as interesting. I wish I had some great plastic surgery to make this (scar) look better, but I try not to worry about it too much.”

Although her fall required surgery around her mouth, dental specialists speculated that she had not had extensive dental work.

US-based prosthodontist Dr. Sara Hahn, told her 156,000 TikTok followers: ‘Looks like she may have had some whitening done.

‘I know she fell and has scars on her face, but it doesn’t look like her teeth are affected. These are her natural teeth.

‘You see the translucency of the teeth, allowing light to shine through.

‘It makes teeth look like teeth. It is very difficult to do that with veneer because it is a different material. This is a beautiful smile.’
