‘We definitely have lucky stars’: Indie band Wet Leg say they still can’t believe they’re opening for Harry Styles’ Love on Tour because they wonder why there are fewer women in music
Wet Leg’s Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers still can’t believe they’re opening for Harry Styles Love on Tour across Europe and the UK.
The indie rock band, set to perform in stadiums in front of tens of thousands of fans, still can’t believe their ‘luck’ as they are about to warm up to the lead singer of Watermelon Sugar.
Four of Harry’s tour dates are London’s Wembley Arena and the final two performances at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in June.
Hester told PORTER, “It makes no sense. I don’t understand who prayed to which god to get us on tour with him. We certainly have lucky stars.’
The British duo, who released their first album in 2022 that immediately became number one in the UK, have already toured with Florence Welch.

The pair are also now making big waves worldwide after winning two Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards earlier this year.
At the Brit Awards, Wet Leg beat the likes of Arctic Monkeys and The 1975 and without them the category was dominated by men.
The indie band took the stage in the evening and was accompanied by a Morris female dance act.
Rhian said of the performance, “I love working with other women and queer and non-binary people, and I wish there was more of that.
“Everyone on our team for the Brits was female or non-binary and that was great. But why are there fewer women making music? Why on our [music] were we among the only girls, of course?’
Wet Leg quickly rose to fame during the Covid-19 pandemic and released their debut album in 2022.
The pair became friends while attending Isle Of Wight College, where they grew up, and a decade later they decided to make music together.
They first signed with the Domino Recording Company in 2019, who have also worked with Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand.
Hester told PORTER, “It makes no sense. I don’t understand who prayed to which god to get us on tour with him. We sure have lucky stars’
Over time, the girls have admitted that their friendship has turned into a “casual relationship,” and they have since claimed – albeit ironically – that they are “married.”
Rhian previously told Exclaim! Magazine: “We started out in a pretty casual relationship and now we’re married.”
Hester added, ‘But I’m really excited to experience this with you and the band. I feel very supported by a very scary time.”
