Westworld’s Evan Rachel Wood Reveals She ‘Would Love To Play A Disney Villain’ But ‘Don’t Like To Be Mean’ In Candid Interview… After HBO Cancels Hit Show
Evan Rachel Wood has revealed she hopes to play a Disney villain in a candid new interview in the future, after it was revealed that HBO canceled its show Westworld.
The 35-year-old actress discussed playing mean roles in an interview with /Movie where she explained that it is not easy for her to play a cunning character.
She said; “I usually don’t like to play the bad guy. A lot of people say it’s more fun, but I don’t like being mean. So it can be hard for me sometimes.

“If there was another live-action Disney movie, I’d love to play a Disney villain or something like that,” she said. “This is the amount of villainy I can do without feeling awful.”
Her interview with the publication came out the same day it was announced that her hit show Westworld was canceled by HBO after four seasons. Wood played Dolores Abernathy on the show.
The show’s third and fourth seasons suffered a slump in ratings, and the review aggregator Rotten tomatoes also showed a sharp decline in critical acclaim.
Despite the poorer reception for the show’s more recent seasons, Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy said they were still hoping for a fifth season.

“We had always planned a fifth and final season,” Nolan said at New York Comic Con earlier this month. ‘We are still in talks with the network. We hope to make them very bad.”
Joy told before Deadline‘ [Jonathan Nolan] and I’ve always had in mind an ending that we hope to achieve. We’re not quite there yet.’
The decision to stop the show came at a time when David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, promised to cut costs. The Hollywood Reporter said insiders told them the price is not the reason the show was canceled.
HBO issued a statement regarding the cancellation that read: “Over the past four seasons, Lisa and Jonah have taken viewers on a mind-blowing odyssey, raising the bar every step of the way. We are immensely grateful to them, along with their incredibly talented cast, producers and crew, and all of our partners at Kilter Films, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. television. It was a thrill to join them on this journey.’
Westworld ran for four seasons and received 54 Emmy nominations during its run. It featured Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Aaron Paul, Thandie Newton, and a host of other stars.
