Ed Harris and his wife Amy Madigan, who married in 1983, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on November 21.
The 73-year-old Westworld actor and Field of Dreams star, also 73, tied the knot while starring in the film Places in the Heart.
According to PeopleWhen Madigan first saw Ed in the play Cowboy in 1980, Madigan knew there was something special about him.
The actress told Life magazine in 1985: ‘It was like seeing something in a movie or hearing it in a song. I just thought, “Well, there he is.” It was clear to me that I would see him again.’
Since cementing their union, the two have continued to work together on screen and on stage.

Per People, the Stepmom actor told the Chicago Tribune in 1985 about working with his wife: “The acting is so intimate and personal.” If we don’t work together… you can’t really talk about your day properly.
‘However, when you work together, there is so much shared, so many unspoken thoughts and emotions that go into the work, that it really brings you closer.’
And Madigan said of their romantic scenes: “The closeness of marriage gives us the ability and freedom to do those kinds of things. I mean, with another actor you would have to spend a lot of time and energy getting to know him or her first.”
The duo are parents to one child, daughter Lily Dolores Harris, now 30.
Harris has had an illustrious career, collecting four Oscar nominations as well as an Emmy for his role in HBO’s science fiction series Westworld.
Amy established herself as a Hollywood fixture after playing Annie Kinsella in Field of Dreams in 1989. That year she also appeared in Uncle Buck.
She also had a leading role in the HBO show Carnivale.

The mother of one also earned an Emmy nomination for her role in the television film Roe vs. Wade, which also came out in 1989.
Madigan has had to correct a false narrative about her and her husband’s love story.
She said people often assumed they were getting married after having an affair on the set of their first film.
In reality, they had been dating for two years before that. “It’s a nice Hollywood story, but it’s not true,” she revealed to the Chicago Tribune.
