Westpac customers shocked to see accounts disappear after outage
Westpac customers have lost access to their money after a massive outage to the bank's online systems.
The bank started reporting problems on Monday around 9 p.m., with mobile banking and online banking affected by the outage.
“We are aware that customers are currently experiencing difficulties accessing account information in online and mobile banking,” the bank wrote on social media platforms.

“Our teams are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and will continue to share updates here.”
Customers have said they have logged into their mobile banking apps to find all accounts gone.
Many users report logging into the app only to find a zero dollar bank balance, while others appear to have had their cards cleared.
Others cannot log in at all.
Customers complained that Westpac initially broke news of the outage on social media rather than on their website.
Others said they were disappointed the bank had not sent a text or email about the situation.
One user said the bank had “poor customer service and communication.”
“Put it on Google too, why do I have to come to Twitter to hear a confession? This is costing me money,” wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
Customers took to social media to express their anger at Westpac's lack of communication
More than 10,000 people have reported that they cannot access their account with Down Detector, a platform that registers outages.
Customers have taken to social media to express their outrage over the incident.
'Internet banking and mobile app both say I don't have an account with you. Or cards. How about a good explanation? Looks like you're being hacked, doesn't it?' wrote one person.
“What is the justification for hundreds of thousands of Australians not having access to their own hardworking money,” wrote another.
