Westfield stabbing: Woman is stabbed in Belconnen shopping centre

A woman has been stabbed after a terrifying carjacking in the car park of a busy shopping centre, a court has heard.
Trong Nguyen, 26, was refused bail after allegedly attacking a customer with a knife before driving away in her car from Westfield Belconnen, in the ACT, at 11.30am on Sunday.
Court documents show the woman was about to get into her car when she heard someone running behind her.
Nguyen allegedly lunged at a woman with the knife and cut her arm. She threw away her keys and the alleged thief grabbed them before driving away.
The woman was rushed to hospital with a single stab wound.

ACT police chased the attacker on foot in Braddon at 11.50am before arresting him, ACT Magistrates Court heard.
Nguyen was charged with eight misdemeanors and denied bail when he appeared in court Monday.
ACCT Chief Magistrate Lorraine Walker described Nguyen as “a significant risk to the community”.
The charges included aggravated robbery, wounding a person with intent, possession of a knife, two counts of failing to stop for police, two counts of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
