Stabbing in Westfield, Doncaster: Man is stabbed in shopping center in front of little girl

Two men have been stabbed in a vicious attack in a busy shopping center in full view of terrified onlookers.

CCTV footage shows a little girl watching in horror as a man lying on the ground has a large knife lodged in his torso as he is repeatedly kicked by another attacker.

Emergency services rushed to the Westfield shopping center in Doncaster, Melbourne’s northwest, about 6.45pm on Saturday.

One man, 21, was taken to hospital in a serious condition, while another man of the same age was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three men aged 17, 18 and 19, who are alleged to have taken part in the incident, were arrested shortly afterwards. All three have been released on bail.

The 18 and 19-year-old will return to Ringwood Magistrate’s Court on March 8 next year, while the 17-year-old will appear in the children’s court at a later date.

Victoria Police confirmed the 19-year-old was charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, possession of a controlled weapon, theft and affray.

The 17-year-old faced similar charges of intentionally causing injury, reckless conduct, endangering serious injury, affray, possessing cannabis and possessing controlled weapons, while the 18-year-old was charged with misdemeanors, theft and bail.

Police assume that both parties did not know each other at the time of the attack.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have yet to be determined.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
