Western Jump Sydney: Jumping castle centre refuses booking from Jewish school Masada College, claiming ‘There’s no way I’m taking a Zionist booking’

A Jewish school was refused the rental of a bouncy castle because the business owner claimed: ‘I absolutely do not accept Zionist bookings’.

The Instagram account for Western Sydney Jump, which was founded in 2013 by corporate event planner Tanya Jones, shared a screenshot of a booking request from Masada College, a co-educational Jewish school in St Ives on Sydney’s Upper North Shore.

‘There’s no way I’m taking a Zionist booking. I don’t want your blood money. Free Palestine,” was the school’s response, accompanied by a Palestinian flag.

Masada College was also contacted.

Dr. Dvir Abramovich, chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission, Australia’s leading civil rights organization combating anti-Semitism, said he was “shocked by this hateful and ugly outburst of exclusion that is un-Australian and rips our shared values to shreds;

‘What’s next? Are you denied entry to a restaurant, club or medical clinic because you wear a Star of David or have a Jewish-sounding name?’ asked Dr. Abramovich.

He added: “Who would have thought people would be denied a booking in Sydney 2023 because of their support for Israel? We must adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards this kind of profiling and indefensible prejudice.

“No one should be excluded or denied entry because of their ethnicity, the country they support, gender, religion, belief or sexual orientation.”

Dr. Abramovish, whose cousin, police inspector Chen Amir, was killed in a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv in August, and whose family on Kibbutz Reim hid in a safe room while Hamas terrorists stalked and killed their neighbors, called on the Human Rights Commission to to research the company.

David Ossip, chairman of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, branded the refusal “sinister and disturbing”.

“These are Australian children, not participants in a foreign conflict,” he said.

“The company has attempted to dehumanize Jews through its correspondence and social media posts and then boasted of its despicable behavior.

“It is deeply abhorrent and inconsistent with the values we hold dear as Australians.”

The Australian Jewish Association also condemned the booking denial.

“This isn’t Germany of the 1930s, it’s Western Sydney in 2023,” it wrote.

‘The government has allowed violent and racist hatred to fester in a certain community.

“This hatred has no place in Australia. The government must speak out.’

Western Jump Sydney claims it is a ‘party and event rental company providing a range of equipment to entertain guests of all ages and abilities’.

“We serve a wide range of events: community, corporate, schools and private social events,” the company claims.
