Locals baffled after ‘alien’ creature was spotted on West Australian beach: ‘It looks like spaghetti’

A beachgoer was stunned to see an ‘alien’-like sea creature with tentacles on the sand.

The West Australian mother was walking along the beach at Ledge Point, an hour and 20 minutes north of Perth, when she came across something she didn’t recognize.

Thick white rubbery strands protruded from the sand and looked like jellyfish tentacles or something ‘alien’ scattered across the beach.

Many shared their suspicions about what the mysterious objects were before the mother discovered it was just dead seaweed that had been bleached by the sun.

‘Found on the beach at Ledge Point. Some in clumps and some in loose strands coming up from the sand. The children and I are curious, does anyone know what it is?’ the woman asked in a Reddit after.

People responded quickly, with many making legitimate guesses and others making jokes.

‘Linguine. It must have washed over from the Mediterranean during last Friday’s storm,” one user laughed and another joked: “Udon noodles.”

‘They look like tree roots. Are there plants nearby? Maybe the sand was washed away during a storm?’ offered a third party.

‘Bleached sea grass. That’s a real plant, unlike algae,” someone added.

Other guesses included beach worms and squid eggs, and the woman added that it felt like ‘bean sprouts’ and didn’t move when poked.

‘It’s another reason not to go to Australia!’ one person joked and another agreed: ‘Whatever it is, if it’s in Australia it’ll probably kill you!’

A beachgoer said they saw the same thing at Ledge Point and also wondered what the creature could be.

“We gave it a jerk and it seemed to be firmly stuck in the sand,” she added.

Some people suggested it could be dead seaweed that had washed up on shore and lost its color from exposure to the sun.

“After much searching on Google Images and some of these answers, I have come to the conclusion that it may be a seaweed that has been sun-bleached because it is not submerged,” the mother concluded.
