A West Virginia businessman’s presidential bid took a dramatic turn recently when his pregnant wife collapsed during his official announcement.

Rollan Roberts II was several minutes into his target speech at the White House when his wife, Rebecca Lea Roberts, began to stumble before falling completely and toppling the American flag right next to him.

Rebecca, who is five months pregnant with the couple’s first child, lay on the ground for several seconds before Roberts moved to help her after several helpers intervened.

Since then, the Republican who has never been elected to public office has been mercilessly mocked on social media for his hesitance to help her.

In the video, Rebecca can be seen starting to stumble to the side.

At one point, the businessman’s wife runs straight into an American flag before her knees give out and she falls to the ground of the West Virginia state capitol.

As Rebecca falls, taking the American flag with her, an attendant standing over her tries to catch her and then take the flag from her.

Roberts stands on the podium for several seconds as others on either side of him rush to her side to make sure she is okay and help her.
