According to the report, Lingard hopes to prove his fitness to the Scot in the coming days and weeks as he aims to get his career back on track.
He has been linked with a move to the MLS this summer, but nothing has come of it so far, although he did spend time training at Inter Miami’s base last month.
Returning to the London Stadium would be a huge turnaround for Lingard after turning down strong interest from the Hammers in favor of Forest in 2022 after being handed a more lucrative package from Steve Cooper reportedly worth £200,000 per -week.
This led to a bad temper between the clubs at the City Ground last August when Hammers supporters threw counterfeit £50 notes at Lingard.
Lingard – who also counts Leicester City, Birmingham, Brighton and Derby among his former clubs after several loan spells while playing at Old Trafford – has won 32 caps for England and was once a favorite of Gareth Southgate, although he did not play for the Three Leos since 2021.

Moyes is desperate for more signings after a frustrating summer, with the Scot dealing with slow progress on his desired transfer window, which came about amid clashes with technical director Tim Steidten.
They were the last Premier League club to sign a contract, before finally adding Ajax and Mexico star Edson Alvarez for £35.4 million last week.
The Hammers then confirmed the addition of James Ward-Prowse for £30million on Monday, but need further reinforcements if they are to avoid another season of top-flight struggles, with Gianluca Scamacca, Nikola Vlasic, Arthur Masuaku and Manuel Lanzini all committed joining Declan Rice on leaving the club in recent months.
They drew their first game of the Premier League campaign 1-1 against Bournemouth on Saturday and hosted Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
