“I’ve been a miserable husband lately!” West Ham boss David Moyes devotes his lavish celebration of Declan Rice’s miraculous strike to his wife Pamela following a thrilling 4-1 win to kick off the Europa Conference League semi-finals
David Moyes’ impromptu celebration after Declan Rice’s wonder goal against Ghent was dedicated to his wife Pamela, who has been living with a ‘miserable’ husband for most of this season.
Moyes danced along the sideline with clenched fists as they qualified for the Europa Conference League semi-finals on Thursday, where a mixture of relief and ecstasy took over.
“I hope there are more of those festivities to come,” Moyes said before facing Bournemouth tomorrow at the Vitality Stadium in another Premier League relegation scandal.
“Sometimes you have to remember how much our families all care about us. They are engrossed in it. They don’t want a miserable husband or father to come home, and frankly, they’ve seen a miserable husband or father on a regular basis.”

Thursday’s 4-1 win over Gent – 5-2 on aggregate – supporters shouted ‘ole’ as West Ham played around. Still, Moyes was not entirely satisfied with his team’s showboating, preferring that they be unforgiving.
“We abused opportunities to score more,” he said. “You never rise above your means. I don’t want us to be an “Ole” team. I want us to cut them up and finish the job. I was disappointed we didn’t.’
Moyes also dedicated his party against Ghent to the West Ham board, which was ‘strong when it had to be’.
There were rumors that Moyes would be replaced in the summer, but the Scot insisted yesterday that he trusts his bosses, adding: “I’m planning for next season. No intention [of leaving]. I will continue my work.’
Fans watching the match hailed Rice – who may leave the club this summer – as the ‘best central midfielder in England’
