West Ham are working on contingency plans if top target Graham Potter rejects role – with four alternatives on Hammers’ radar

- Lopetegui attended training despite the club being in the process of appointing his successor

West Ham have been actively working on contingency plans in case number 1 goalkeeper Graham Potter turns down the chance to become the club’s new head coach.
Potter has held talks with owner David Sullivan over the replacement of current boss Julen Lopetegui, who attended training on Tuesday despite the club actively working to appoint his successor. Hope remained Tuesday that a deal could be reached.
But former Chelsea boss Potter had yet to give West Ham the green light for his appointment on Tuesday evening.
Intriguingly, Everton, who decide to sack Sean Dyche, are believed to have some interest in Potter.
Sources have indicated that they at the London Stadium are concerned that the possibility of joining Everton under new ownership is an attractive prospect for Potter.
West Ham would ideally want Potter to take on the job until the end of the season before reassessing. Clearly, the length of the contract is an issue that still needs to be resolved.

Former PSG boss Christophe Galtier and ex-AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca are on West Ham’s radar
Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick, an ex-West Ham midfielder, has admirers at the club
The fact that Potter has yet to accept the position has led to Hammers officials exploring alternatives.
Among them would be Christophe Galtier, who is currently head coach at Qatari club Al Duhail.
The 58-year-old has experience as a coach in France, having managed Paris Saint-Germain, Nice, St Etienne and Lille.
Long-term goalkeeper Paulo Fonseca also remains on West Ham’s radar. Fonseca has come close to the club in the past and is currently out of work after leaving AC Milan at the end of last year.
Mail Sport understands that striking deals for Galtier and Fonseca would be relatively straightforward, with both candidates aware of West Ham’s interest. Edin Terzic and Michael Carrick also have admirers at West Ham.
