- Fire under bridge in western Sydney
A fire broke out under a bridge in Sydney’s Wentworth Park early this morning.
Firefighters were called to the bridge at Glebe in the Inner West at 6.40am on Monday morning after receiving reports that the fire was three times too cold.
About ten firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames shortly before 7:00 am.
Daily Mail Australia reports that there is a homeless camp under the bridge.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said sleepwear and personal belongings belonging to the homeless community were found at the scene.
Tram services to and from the city’s western centre on the L2 Dulwich Hill to Pyrmont line were temporarily suspended while firefighters battled the blaze.
A New South Wales police spokesman said the fire was not believed to be suspicious.
More coming soon.
