Cardiff have questioned Swansea stadium security after substitute Ollie Tanner suffered a painful leg injury while helping secure the Bluebirds’ first point of the season.
It was one of many points of contention in the latest edition of ‘El Taffico’, with Cardiff manager Erol Bulut being sent off deep into injury time after a fight with Swansea’s Kyle Naughton.
There were also four yellow cards in the three minutes of added time in a stormy closing stages of this Welsh derby, which saw Cardiff fans bussed in and out.
Tanner was lucky not to be seriously injured before the late drama. He sprinted down the right and fed a great pass to Callum Robinson, who slotted home the equaliser just inside the penalty area in the 79th minute.
During the celebrations that followed, the influx of fans caused a billboard to collapse, injuring Tanner and leaving Cardiff with questions.

Tanner was injured by an advertising hoarding after Cardiff fans knocked it over while celebrating the win.
“You look and say, ‘Do you think there should be more security around the pitch so fans can’t get to the advertising hoardings?'” Cardiff manager Omer Riza said. “That’s a big hoarding that’s fallen, Ollie’s got a big gash in his leg.”
Swansea manager Luke Williams, who is aware of a similar incident at Crystal Palace on Saturday, admitted it is an issue that the authorities and stadium security need to look into.
But Williams had other concerns after his side failed to capitalise on an opener after 10 minutes from local boy Liam Cullen. It was Cullen’s third goal in as many starts against Cardiff, when he smashed the rebound of Ronald’s shot into an empty net.
But the Swans were made to pay for a series of missed chances and when Bulut was sent off, Cardiff were still worth a point – although the manager was denied the chance to express his feelings under new EFL rules that ban managers from speaking after being sent off.
“He still says the red card was a bit harsh,” Riza said. “He was pulled onto the pitch and their player put his hands on him, which shouldn’t happen.”
