Hard mallard: Duck swimming around with a KNIFE in his neck makes a full recovery after being stabbed by vicious thugs in France
- The duck was first spotted with a knife to its neck last month, sparking concern
- Welfare organizations have reported abuses as they try to find the vicious criminals
A duck that swam around with a knife in its neck after being stabbed by vicious thugs in France has made an astonishing full recovery.
Shocking footage showed the mallard swimming around a pond in Saint-Nolff, Brittany, with other ducks despite having a red knife wedged just below its head.
Outraged animal activists have since filed a complaint of animal cruelty in an attempt to get justice for the horror act that took place last month.
Somehow the mallard seemed completely unfazed by the blade and was still able to walk, fly and eat despite the severe wound.
Concerns about the animal, dubbed Donald by locals, first arose on March 24, when a walker informed the charity Pinocchio et Sauvageons 56 of the injury.

Concerns about the animal first arose on March 24, when a walker alerted the charity Pinocchio et Sauvageons 56 to the injury
The shocking discovery prompted the charity, with the help of firefighters, to try to save the duck from further damage by removing the blade.
However, to their surprise, the duck continued to evade them and rescuers were initially unable to catch it. Le Parisian reports.
It took rescuers seven days to finally catch the duck, when they were finally able to sedate it and remove the weapon from its neck.
Once the operation was performed, the duck flew straight out of the cage when the door was opened.
The animal welfare organization — and even the mayor of Saint-Nolff, has since provided updates on the duck’s health — and he appears to have fully recovered from what could have been a life-changing injury.
Mayor Nadine Le Goff-Carnec Maire shared a montage of photos of the duck being treated by vets and released back into the wild.
She described the rescue mission as a “happy ending” and thanked the firefighters for helping to remove the knife and return the duck to the water.
“As soon as the cage was opened, the duck flew away,” she added.
Rescue teams initially struggled to capture the duck, but seven days later they were able to stun it and remove the weapon
His behavior was observed on the water. Everything is OK!!! Happy ending for this duck…”
Local authorities are now trying to track down the person responsible for the heartless stabbing of the animal.
In 2021, the French Senate passed a new animal protection law to combat shocking abuses.
Within the bill, authorities promised to impose tougher fines and recommend time limits for those convicted of animal cruelty.
