I’m a teacher and this is the trashiest child’s name I’ve ever come across: ‘It makes no sense’

A dance teacher has revealed the most annoying name she has ever come across.

Devin, from the US, recently commented on a viral TikTok asking: ‘What’s the trashiest name you’ve ever heard?’

The young teacher said she has seen many “wild” and “extraordinary” names during her career, but one child’s strange nickname takes the cake.

“I get it, everyone wants to be different,” she thought when she came across the name: La/a

“I looked at it for a long time and then I thought: I have it, it’s Leia,” she said, but the teacher was terribly mistaken.

She called and asked for Leia’s parents, but the mother on the other end of the line was confused.

‘WHO?’ she kept repeating.

When it finally clicked, the mother snapped, “That’s the wrong name.”

Devin was confused and politely asked the parent how to pronounce the child’s name.

The mother eventually revealed that her daughter’s name was ‘La-dash-ah’ and that the ‘ was not silent.

Devin shared that the naming principle was foreign to her because although she previously taught a child the name “La/Money,” his attention was silent.

Thousands of people on TikTok rolled their eyes at the strange name, and some criticized the name.

“Tell me why I said LaSlasha because that’s a slash not a dash,” one person said.

“I said ‘La-AH,’” another offered, while a third thought it was “Lala.”

One revealed: ‘I said Laura because LaORa.’

But not everyone was surprised.

“I knew it was Ladasha because my mom worked in child support,” one person said.

“I’m so happy that in Finland all names go through a system where they reject inappropriate names,” another added.

A bail bondsman previously revealed the ‘most ridiculous’ names she’s come across in her work – and the inspiration behind some of them may surprise you.

Chey, the employee, originally noted that a woman calling her son “Cartier Kior” — after the luxury jewelry brand and designer label “Dior” — wasn’t the strangest name she’s ever heard.

Her career means she’s come across several “out of pocket” names, including “Orangelo” and “Lamongelo.”

Chey revealed that the siblings in question were named after household desserts, orange jelly and lemon jelly.

“I work for a bail bond company and we get called a lot of weird names,” Chey said in a video. “My colleague has two of the strangest names we’ve ever heard: Orangelo and Lamongelo.”

The woman was shocked that their mother felt such a strong connection with jelly that she would actually name her children after the dessert.

Many in the comments revealed the strange names they came across – with some even pointing to their own birth certificates as proof.

“My name is Sativa,” one woman said dejectedly, referring to a type of marijuana. “It wasn’t fun growing up with it.”

“I work in college admissions and I had an applicant named Saturday May because he was born on a Saturday in May,” another woman revealed.

“My mother taught a child the name Nosmo King, after the ‘No Smoking’ sign,” one man said of a family that took the fear of lung cancer very seriously.
