Weekend Winners: Inspiral a class above Sun Chariot rivals says At The Races expert Declan Rix!
Declan Rix, expert at The Races, says Inspiral should be far too good for her rivals in Saturday’s Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.
The John and Thady Gosden-trained four-year-old finished a brave second in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot before disappointing behind the three-year-old star in soft conditions at Glorious Goodwood Paddington.
But she immediately returned to her best level at the Prix Jacques Le Marois in Deauville under Frankie Dettori, and passed Big stone in what was perhaps a career-best effort.
And speak on Friday Digital show Weekend winnersRix suggested a repeat of that effort would be more than sufficient against weaker rivals at Newmarket on Saturday.
“I think she’s a class above this one, I really do,” Rix said on the channel Digital show Weekend winners. “Look, it’s as her price suggests, but I’m hoping that maybe she and Al Aasy get hired and people want to see her beat.
“She was beaten in the Falmouth at 1/7 but she put in an astonishing performance in the Coronation Stakes and that has clearly left a mark.
“The key to her is being fresh and she comes here after a 55-day break, which is perfect for her and in my eyes she is a class above.
“I have a lot of respect for the Andre Fabre-trained filly Mqse De Sevigne, but she drops back to eight furlongs on faster ground at a speed-conducive track like Newmarket.
“I see her being tapped on her toes, despite everything she has done well this season.
“I think we have to give the Gosden team a lot of credit. The last three runs he hit the covers and came out of the gate very well. The stables had been a problem earlier in her career but they seem to have solved that and that really helped her.
“There are some horses that like to go forward, but I don’t see much pace, I just think she thrives on a good, strong pace. I think she gets a good, steady gallop and she eats it up, so to speak.” are honest.”
