When will Wednesday season 2 debut on Netflix? Normally, with the wildly popular horror-comedy series being renewed for another outing in early 2023, it would be well on its way to being with us.
But 2023 was not a normal year. Production continues along with many other films and TV shows Wednesday's second year was postponed by the writers' and actors' strikes in Hollywood. It was a long, somewhat awkward wait until Netflix *ahem* snapped its fingers and extended it Wednesday for another season. Indeed, we had to wait six weeks after the season 1 launch date (November 23, 2022) for Netflix to confirm this Wednesday season 2 following the show's record-breaking debut, which arrived via social media on January 6, 2023.
However, the question of an exact release date still hangs in the balance. The writers' and actors' strikes caused production delays across the board, but once the situation was resolved, filming resumed Wednesday season 2 will start early next year.
Per Deadline, full production of Season 2 is “tentatively scheduled for late April (2024).” Although the show was previously planned to be filmed in Romania – like season 1 – season 2 will reportedly move to Ireland.
In September, Variety also claimed that Netflix is prioritizing work on Wednesday season 2 and Stranger things season 5, which is no surprise considering their immense popularity. With production seemingly scheduled for April, it's safer to assume we won't see that Wednesday season 2 until mid-2025 at the earliest, although we wouldn't rule out a terrifyingly good late-2025 launch instead.

The biggest casting news of Season 2 so far is the impending arrival of another potentially interesting individual. In a Video on Wednesday on Netflix Tudum 2023, Ortega, Myers, Sunday and Doohan confirmed that another member of the Addams Family would appear in season 2.
While the identity of this new character is being kept tightly under wraps, Ortega said she would like to see Cousin Itt make an appearance, while the rest of the gang wants Grandma to show up. Here's hoping we get some new cast details when filming begins.

The Wednesday The plot of season 2 remains a secret for now. All we have so far are predictions and theories, which the cast members discussed during Netflix Tudum 2023.
So, what are said theories? First, there is talk of Crackstone's ring falling to the ground after his apparent defeat in the season 1 finale. A poignant moment captured and shown to viewers perhaps hints at someone else getting the ring back and his possesses powers, although it is unclear who this might be.
Then there's the downfall of Miss Thornhill, aka Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci), who was revealed to be the person responsible for controlling the Hyde Monster. Who is the Hyde in question? None other than Tyler, one of Wednesday's love interests.
Considering the Hyde Master has control over Tyler and that when Wednesday's car passed Tyler's prison vehicle, it prompted him to assume his Hyde form, fans believe Wednesday is now in possession of Thornhill's abilities. Ortega further teases this potential link, saying it would be fun to see Wednesday get a pet. The plot thickens…

Elsewhere, Professor Weems (Gwendoline Christie), the shape-shifting headmaster of Nevermore Academy, was apparently murdered in season 1 – but you can never be quite sure with these things. Indeed, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that when Lurch, The Addams Family's butler, drove home for school vacation on Wednesday in Season 1, Episode 8, he had a different eye color than earlier in the season. Is this really Weems in disguise? Who knows, but we can't wait to find out if this is a theory we rightly mentioned well in advance Wednesday season 2 release.
There are plenty of other subplots that season 2 could lean into. That includes receiving threatening text messages on Wednesday, Nevermore Academy being left without a director after Weems' alleged death, Gates' fate left up in the air, the fallout from Xavier's mistaken imprisonment in Episode 7 (and the subsequent release in the finale) and more.

It feels a little premature to say that a third season is on the way, but we'd be surprised if it were Wednesday season 2 is the end of the line.
Season 3 also sounds incredibly likely, peaking at , says showrunner Miles Millar Variety: “For us, we're always looking to the future, and when we sit down to make a show, ideally we're looking at multiple seasons. That's never expected, but that's the expectation that hopefully the show will be successful. So You always explain at least three or four seasons' worth of potential storylines for the characters.”
Three or four seasons? It doesn't matter if we do. And we're sure Netflix will comply, especially if it does Wednesday season 2 is just as big (if not bigger) than its predecessor. And with Bloomberg Reporting that a Wednesday spinoff is tentatively in development at Netflix, we might have more Addams Family shenanigans to enjoy further down the line.
