A man was mauled by a shark while windsurfing off the coast of Perth on Christmas Eve.
The 46-year-old was bitten on the ankle at Wedge Island, north of Lancelin, at 3pm on Sunday.
The man managed to swim back to shore and get himself to a local nursing station at the pie shop in Wedge.
He received medical attention before being taken to Joondalup Hospital for further treatment.
The Ministry of Primary Industry and Regional Development is working with local authorities to coordinate a response.
