Wedding Professionals Reveal the Couples They Knew Headed for DIVORCE

Wedding professionals have lifted the lid on the couples they knew were headed for divorce thanks to the red flags they waved on their big day.

Reddit user u/Justhearmeoit sparked the conversation by asking people who work in the industry if they’ve “ever seen a couple and immediately thought, ‘This is going to end in divorce.'”

The viral thread that has surfaced features stories from planners, photographers, servers, and other wedding employees who’ve seen everything from cheating brides to drunken grooms.

A hotel employee recalls bringing a bottle of champagne to the couple’s room on the night of their wedding and “finding the bride hunched over the chair with her wedding dress draped over her head” having sex with the best man.

A Reddit user asked a wedding pro to share about the couples they knew were getting divorced after their big day, and the stories didn’t disappoint

Another Reddit user who worked as a musician in college as a musician said they saw a lot of questionable behavior while working the wedding circuit, but two examples stuck in their heads.

‘[The] groom was super emotional and smiling when the bride first appeared at the church doors to walk down the aisle, and the bride was more interested in “holla-ing” to her family and friends as she walked down the aisle,” they wrote .

‘I don’t think she once looked at the Bridegroom when she went down. You just saw his face sink as she approached and had no interest in even looking at the man she was about to marry.’

In the other case, they learned from the wedding planner that “the bride and her bridesmaids had been drinking at least 10 bottles of champagne all morning and they were all ridiculously drunk.”

The musician was told to keep playing ‘no matter what’ – even as two of the three bridesmaids fell down the aisle. The bride and maid of honor also had difficulty walking, but they managed to stay upright.

“The groom actually held the bride up for the whole ceremony and she very loudly refused a seat. Also, the flower girl looked a little green around the gills and puked in her basket during the vows. I think she also got or secretly got some champagne,” they explained.

According to the wedding planner, the couple had argued the night before their wedding about whether to start drinking earlier.

The bride passed out at the reception and the groom gave an apology speech to their guests before taking an Uber home alone.

Meanwhile, a photographer explained how they caught the groom looking at another woman.

‘You can see his eyes light up when a guest arrives. You look around and it’s a cute woman in a short dress. He smiles, walks over to the woman, picks her up and swings her into his arms,” they recalled. Best smile I’ve captured from the groom all day. From what I heard, the marriage didn’t last six months.’

Many of the stories from industry insiders were about drunken antics and flings, but some witnessed actual fights on the wedding day.

“I helped out at my parents’ restaurant where a big wedding was being held. I was busy serving drinks and all of a sudden there was loud yelling and yelling behind me,” one Reddit user shared.

Turns out the bride somehow found out that the groom was meeting with her sister just before the wedding ceremony (and apparently a few times before) and in her anger she stabbed him several times in the chest with a dinner fork. We had to call an ambulance and the police. It was like hell.’

The story got so much attention from other users that the person contacted their mother to find out what happened to the couple.

The bride’s parents are still regulars at their family’s restaurant, and it turns out that the groom now has two children with the sister he cheated with.

And that wasn’t the only story of sibling rivalry.

Another person who worked in fine dining and catering said they once heard a bride admit during her reception toast that she thought she was asking the groom’s twin brother out on their first date.

“That might be cute, except she kept going [about] how the twins were more compatible, etc. Then she ended the toast with, “Well… as nice as you are, you’ll be a great first husband,” the person explained.

“I was walking past the cameraman at that point and you can hear me say on tape, ‘Did you get that? Tell me you got that.'”

Another who worked at a hotel described a “massive rehearsal dinner fight” that spread into the lobby.

Everyone in the lobby found out that she hated his parents, that she was pregnant and had no idea who the father was, and a few other things. Packed half of the guest list and checked out the next day. They are married after all,” they noted.
