In early June, as the European Championships kicked off, brides across the country got goosebumps at the thought that their guests, and more importantly, their partners, would find football more important than their wedding.

‘It’s the England match and my wedding,’ the 31-year-old told Metro.co.uk. ‘It cost us £19,000… I wouldn’t mind if it was any other match because my guests wouldn’t make such a big deal about it, but it’s England.’

Lauren’s worst nightmare? She said, “You walk down the aisle of that church — and his whole side is on their phones because they’re fans.”
