Wedding guest sparks debate over ‘trashy and inappropriate’ sheer white dress: ‘Have you gone mad?’

A wedding guest recently earned the ire of thousands by showing up to her friend’s wedding in a sheer white dress that showed off her underwear.

Another mom shared a photo of the guest’s “inappropriate” attire that violated several social wedding conventions, such as refraining from wearing white – which is reserved for the bride.

The dress’s asymmetrical shape and long back also made it appear as if the garment had a frilly train.

The sheer nature and thigh-high slit perfectly showcased the white bodysuit the woman was wearing underneath the dress.

Many labeled the outfit “terrible” and “outrageous” and couldn’t believe the woman was allowed to attend the black tie event.

The dress is similar to a design that sells on AliExpress for $15.

It is also available in several colors including: beige, pink, red and black.

The mother shared a photo of the anonymous guest on a popular wedding shaming Facebook group.

‘That’s not that bride. And yes, that appears to be a bodysuit under the mesh,” she captioned the image.

‘It was beautiful. The lady was gorgeous and uptight. But you don’t wear that to a friend’s wedding in my opinion,” the mother added.

Several took up the comments to immediately punish the unknown woman.

“That’s not ‘nice and edgy.’ You wear that to the pool!” wrote a woman.

“It’s more like a bathing suit and cover up than something you’re supposed to wear to a wedding,” said another.

“I don’t think this is even appropriate in any other color. Everyone else seems to have thought about what to wear and no one else seems to be in a sheer mesh bathing suit cover that passes off as a dress. Lazy,’ another commented.

Several were shocked that anyone would even consider wearing a white dress to a wedding, regardless of style.

“I have to admit I hate that dress. To each their own I guess, but what about the number of young people who find it acceptable to wear a long white dress to a wedding?’ a woman asked.

“You guys are too comfortable wearing white to weddings, and it shocks me every time,” said one woman. “Who raised these people?”

“There’s so much wrong with that outfit I don’t even have the energy to start,” wrote another.

Some defended the dress – but not the woman’s choice to wear it to the wedding.

“It’s very cute, but she should have worn a different color and different shoes,” said one woman.

“It could be light blue or mauve — maybe it just looks white in the light,” countered a second.
