A wedding guest was shocked when she accidentally wore the same dress as the bridesmaids, leaving the bride very disappointed.
Taylor Fogarty, from Florida, spent $100 on a pastel blue floor-length dress for a spring wedding in New Jersey.
But the make-up artist was left red-faced when she saw the bridal party walking down the aisle and was shocked to realize she was wearing the exact same dress as the bridesmaids.
The 28-year-old said her stomach was in knots all day over the ‘creepy’ blunder and she was ‘dying inside’ when a fellow guest brought it up at the buffet table.
Taylor shared a video of the blunder on TikTok with the caption ‘my Roman Empire is the time I showed up to a wedding in the same dress as the bridesmaids’ – which has now racked up more than 1.9 million views.

The makeup artist’s face turned red as she watched the bridal party walk down the aisle and was shocked to realize she was wearing the exact same dress as the bridesmaids.
Taylor said, “As soon as the bridesmaids started walking down the aisle, I realized it.
‘I immediately turned bright red and my stomach was in knots. I felt so uncomfortable that I wanted to leave, I couldn’t quite enjoy myself.
‘I didn’t speak to the bridesmaids, I approached the bride at the reception and apologized. I was so ashamed that I felt like I had to say something.
“She played it off like she didn’t mind, but I could tell she had some opinions about it.
‘It was very uncomfortable. I had met her before, but we weren’t close at all.
‘I brought it up to everyone I spoke to at the wedding because I was so ashamed.
‘An older man said something about it when I went to get food from the buffet. I just walked away, dying inside.
‘It’s my Roman Empire, because I think about it often. It makes me cringe.”

She didn’t realize that her dress resembled a bridesmaid’s dress and chose blue to accentuate her eyes
Taylor was referring to the TikTok trend where women ask the men in their lives how often they “think about the Roman Empire” — and the answers tend to be surprisingly often.
Her equivalent now is the unhappy wedding dress saga – and it has clearly been on her mind.
Many social media users admitted they could relate to Taylor’s experience: “This happened to me twice as a plus 1, while another said, ‘How was she supposed to know what the bridesmaid will wear?’
But others thought Taylor was responsible for the accident: ‘That’s a literal bridesmaid dress’;
‘Girl straight out of David’s Bridal, what were you thinking’;
“That’s why I ask the bride what color the bridesmaids are wearing.”
In a follow-up video, Taylor can be heard saying that her dress, which she bought at Lulus, “looks like a bridesmaid dress.”
However, she says it’s a “lesson learned” and that she will “definitely explore the color of the bridesmaids’ dress” for future weddings.
Taylor apologized to the bride and felt even more embarrassed when other wedding guests started pointing it out

Some on TikTok said they had the same experience, but others said Taylor was to blame for the accident
Taylor said, “When you look at it like that, it definitely looks like a bridesmaid dress.
‘There was absolutely no dress code specified. When I wear blue, my eyes always stand out, that color suits me well.
‘Maybe I shouldn’t have gone for a floor-length dress, but I didn’t think about it.
‘Any future weddings I attend, I will definitely ask about the colours.
“A lot of people in the comments said the same thing happened to them, which definitely made me feel better.”
‘There are people who say I should have asked. I don’t really know if anyone would have asked that.’
