Weatherman Sam Mac reveals how fatherhood has changed his life

Sam Mac is a new father, and his life will never be the same again.

The Sunrise meteorologist tells this week’s edition of star magazine that his life with his daughter Margot and his girlfriend Rebecca James is more than he dreamed.

“I don’t think anything can prepare you for that moment, the first few seconds when you see your son,” the 40-year-old said.

“I constantly replay it in my mind, this little purple thing that comes out and looks into my eyes,” he continued.

‘And I just feel, we need to protect you and take care of you forever. You are no longer the most important person in your world.

“It’s a great responsibility, but also a great privilege.”

“I don’t think anything can prepare you for that moment, the first few seconds when you see your son,” the 40-year-old said.

Sam says her work life has changed, too, and filming on location with the baby in tow is a challenge.

‘I used to go away for three nights with a small carry-on bag. But now it’s a full operation,’ she told the magazine.

“Traveling with Margot requires her to travel with more than just the TV crew, and that includes a satellite, lighting and cameras.”

‘And I just feel, we need to protect you and take care of you forever. You are no longer the most important person in your world,’ she added.

“It’s a great responsibility, but also a great privilege,” Sam said.

Sam and Rebecca welcomed their first child together in September.

The couple announced the birth of their baby girl on Instagram, revealing that they named her Margot Grace McMillan.

‘This is a love I didn’t even know existed. I’m overwhelmed and still processing it all right now. My girls. Wow,’ she began.

Sam announced that he was going to be a new father on Instagram in April.

The couple, who have been dating since 2020 when their friendship turned into romance, bought a house in Sydney’s inner west together in October.
