We will witness legalised murder in the ring if this insane wokery is allowed to continue, writes boxing legend JEFF POWELL

Yesterday’s fight between Italy’s Angela Carini and Algeria’s Imane Khelif is as big a red flag as the Chinese banner that was recently unfurled in the gymnastics hall.

It is a warning of what will inevitably happen if this insane example of wokery continues.

If male-bodied boxers continue to compete against women in the ring, I predict we will see legalized murder in the name of sport.

In a shocking disregard for women’s safety, the International Olympic Committee decided to condone this crazy behavior. Carini took her own defensive measures yesterday – and may have saved her own life.

Just two punches and 46 seconds into her fight against Khelif, she begged her teammates to pull her out before bursting into tears.

What is clear is that Khelif has a muscular, masculine body.

The Algerian’s first blow snapped Carini off her chinstrap. The second blow – which she described as more devastating than anything she had ever experienced in her decorated career – convinced her that enough was enough.

“Testosterone” is the key word in this scandal, which also involves Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu Ting.

Both fighters have been cleared to compete in the Paris Olympics, despite being disqualified from last year’s world boxing championships after the IOC ruled they failed tests for having too much of the male hormone.

It is true that neither Khelif nor Lin are believed to be transgender. It is known that they are more likely to be ‘intersex’, although the facts are hard to come by.

Be that as it may, their national Olympic associations declare them to be women.

But what about their muscular bodies, or the possibility that, at the most basic level, these two boxers have the XY chromosomes of biological males?

In the wake of the Charlotte Dujardin affair, the IOC is concerned about whipping dressage horses. It doesn’t want sewage in the Seine harming triathletes. But it seems dangerously relaxed about female boxers risking life and limb.

Did no one in the group that got the free champagne put down their glass of champagne long enough to watch the videos of Khelif destroying other girls? And realize that of all the sports, boxing is the most dangerous for women who are up against male-bodied opponents?

Unfortunately, it is true that men sometimes kill each other in the hall of fame.

Is the IOC both blind and stupid?

Sharron Davies, in a furious state despite working for the BBC snowflake, has condemned allowing biological males to compete against females in swimming or any other sport as a disgrace. As has Martina Navratilova.

Northern Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan has slammed the IOC.

Death now walks the squared ring, and all this at a time when Olympic authorities are looking for excuses to remove boxing – one of the original sports in the Ancient Games – from the next competition in Los Angeles 2028. This would be a terrible betrayal of the Olympic ethos.

Yet there is a simple solution.

I am one of those who strongly support a separate category for transgender athletes and for people with an indeterminate identity, just as there are different weight classes in boxing.

And I’m not just talking about boxing: we need a separate category for every sport.

No one shall be denied the eternal right to participate. But not at the risk of another’s life.
