Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the National Maker Award initiative and said it was a great opportunity for the maker community, highlighting the extraordinary talent across India.
Modi tagged a ‘MyGovIndia’ post on India’s National Creators Award, urging people to nominate themselves in more than 20 categories.
“An exciting opportunity for our maker community, spotlighting the extraordinary talent across India. Whether they innovate, inspire or ignite change, we want to celebrate our Yuva Shakti,” Modi said.
“Step up, join in and let the nation cheer for the talented creators!” he said.
The government’s citizen engagement platform ‘MyGovIndia’ said in a post on awarding this to Digital Makers!”
“For the first time ever, I present to you India’s NATIONAL CREATORS AWARD. Nominate yourself or your favorite creator TODAY in over 20 categories! Nominations are open,” the post said.
Official sources had earlier said that the first-of-its-kind award will be targeted at ‘Gen Z’, a reference to the young generation addicted to the internet and social media, and will be presented in nearly 20 categories.
Social media influencers, such as those on YouTube and Instagram, will also be eligible for the prizes, the sources said.
