There are just 20 thatched cottages to rent across the country on real estate website Zoopla.
We pick five of these sought-after properties and take a look inside at their signature fireplaces and low, wood-beamed ceilings.

Their rents range from the cheapest in our list at £850 per month for a one-bedroom cottage in Northamptonshire, to the highest at more than double that amount per month for a five-bedroom cottage in Norfolk.
They all have the common factor of being in the countryside with far reaching rural views.
It follows the latest data showing that the average rent in Britain was £1,175 a month in February, up 0.3 per cent from the previous month.
Andy Halstead, of HomeLet & Let Alliance – who produced the data – said: ‘The rental market continues to suffer from a lack of available housing to meet rising demand.
“If the number of available properties does not grow with demand, then prices will inevitably remain high and will rise even higher as the battle between tenants to secure a property intensifies.”
