We speak to the singing estate agent whose sales video went viral
It’s a tough housing market there. House prices are expected to continue falling this year as buyers struggle to raise the money for homes with rising mortgage rates and a crisis in the cost of living.
As a real estate agent, anything you can do to give your properties an extra push is worth doing.
So one agent decided that in order to lead the way, she would put a musical twist on traditional for sale ads.
Claire Cossey, 43, owner and director of Just-Knock estate agency in Bedfordshire, regularly puts her vocal talents to work creating musical promotional videos of her properties.

And one of her efforts just went viral.
“The NeverEnding Property,” a musical tour of The Laurels, a five-bedroom, three-bathroom detached home in Leighton Buzzard, has been viewed more than 200,000 times on YouTube after becoming a social media sensation.

The agent told us that there has been an increase in viewing requests for the property since the video took the internet by storm.
And Cossey has seen a similar increase in buyer interest when videos for other properties are noticed locally.
In the video, Cossey takes viewers on a walking tour of the sprawling house, singing the praises of its unique features, including a built-in dog groomer, solar panels, and a game room.
But this isn’t the first time she’s given houses their own show tunes. With a professional singing career spanning two decades and a part-time job as a singing teacher, Cossey has long combined her passion for music and real estate to give properties their own musical backing.
“We’re all miserable b*ggers right now and it puts a smile on people’s faces,” she tells This is Money.
“It’s hilariously fun.”
She didn’t expect The Laurels’ video to go viral.

The ad had been on real estate site Rightmove for four months, but came to the attention of the internet on Wednesday night when she quoted the price.
“It exploded on Reddit and I had never been on Reddit myself,” she says, before laughing at the news that she’s trending on Twitter.
“You can’t stop me, I’m crazy.
“If it was someone else’s company, they wouldn’t let me do it, but it’s my company.”
It’s also, she says, easy to get owners to agree with the idea. For the home pictured, the seller is a personal friend of Claire’s, who loved the promotional idea.

The most difficult and time-consuming part of the process, according to Cossey, is choosing a song and writing new lyrics to match the property.
“It’s very difficult, I do everything myself,” she explains.
Once the lyrics are ready, she records the song in her own home studio and loads it onto her phone. It then plays as she shows off the property she’s selling, lip syncing the words so the music can be added.

For The Laurels – now on the market for £700,000 – it was the size of the property that inspired it.
With all double rooms and five reception rooms, Claire found inspiration in the theme song of the title film The Never-ending Story (recently covered in an episode of Stranger Things).
Cossey started making the videos after she and her partner started their own agency during the pandemic after losing their jobs.
But she doesn’t think a catchy video alone will sell a home.
However, the videos also have a secondary, more sentimental purpose. She says the recordings are a “memory” for the sellers, who have a lasting memento of their home once they leave. But, true to her profession, selling the properties ‘all over the town’ is paramount.’
She added, “If they blow up like this, it will definitely help sell the property.”
