We served our wedding guests McDonald’s – trolls say we’re cheap, but our guests loved it and we saved loads of money

Newlyweds are being slammed for serving their guests McDonald’s on their big day.

Thomas Billaudeau, 27, and his wife, Ophélie, 25, from Paris, France, opted to serve the unconventional meal rather than spend thousands on the traditional three-course dinner for guests.

Groom Thomas posted the video on TikTokmentioning McDonald’s Beauvais Tille in the caption.

The clip, which has been viewed 2.3 million times, was captioned: “Thank you for the treat at our wedding.”

In the video, the bride takes the microphone and moves to the back of the room as everyone turns and cheers after seeing a McDonald’s delivery person.

The happy couple ordered more than 300 burgers, wraps and nuggets from the popular fast food chain for their wedding guests.

But when the groom, who works as a photographer, shared a clip of the celebration on social media, the couple received a backlash.

Viewers took to the video’s comments section to criticize the newlyweds for their choices.

People criticized the couple for not serving their guests “quality food” and for being “cheap.”

Someone wrote: ‘Given the price of McDonald’s, it is now better to hire a caterer, then you also have quality.’

Another said: ‘Guys, stop! it’s not a matter of going to the wedding for dinner. But McDonald’s, what?’

However, the couple have since defended their decision to local media. They told reporters they did it because “it was cheaper” and wanted food that everyone liked.

The bride, who works as a marketing assistant, shared Le Parisien newspaper: ‘We have looked at the prices of some caterers, but I am a picky eater.

People criticized the couple for not serving their guests “quality food” and for being “cheap.”

‘I was afraid we were going to pay for something we didn’t like. If you’re going to pay, you might as well get something you like.”

Others defended the couple, saying they thought this was better than wasting thousands of people on one meal.

One person said: ‘I’d rather eat McDonald’s at my wedding than go into 25 years of debt for a wedding.’

Another said: ‘Finally people who can have the wedding they want without going into debt can show off. To be happy!’

Someone else said: ‘I love people, they don’t understand that a real wedding should reflect the image of the bride and groom, I think it’s fine as long as they are happy.’
