The average asking price of a house in Liverpool is £208,120, while the average asking rent is £1,000 per month, according to Rightmove.
The average asking price for a home in Liverpool has risen by 4 percent over the past year, while rents have risen by 7 percent.
Rightmove further suggested that a higher proportion of buyers now reside in cities such as Liverpool compared to last year.
And yet a larger proportion of tenants outside the cities are looking for a cheaper place to live or to get more value for their money further afield.
Nearly two-thirds of buyers living in Liverpool are asking about housing in the city, up from 61 per cent last year.
Meanwhile, 65 per cent of tenants living in Liverpool want to move within the city, down from 67 per cent last year.
Rightmove’s Tim Bannister said: ‘Cities like Liverpool have become more popular with buyers as people find a balance between flexible working patterns and proximity to office space and the amenities of a big city.
“It’s a slightly different story for tenants, as record rents and a shortage of available housing mean that many tenants have to cast their nets wider and look outside the cities to find an available home within their budget.”
It follows previous research from Rightmove that revealed how cash-strapped renters are leaving city centers in favor of cheaper places further afield.
Rightmove’s findings showed that 42 percent of renters now want to move out of the city where they currently live. The other 58 percent want to stay.
It’s up from 37 percent who wanted to leave last year and up from 28 percent before the pandemic in February 2020.
Rightmove attributed the increase to rents that have risen at a record pace in recent years and a drop in the number of homes available to rent.
