“We live in a banana republic!” The furious Donald Trump Jr. claims his father has only now been charged ‘because he is leading in the polls’ and to distract from Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings

donald trump jr. has dismissed charges against his father over allegations related to the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, claiming the timing of the criminal case amounts to election interference.

Donald Trump was charged with felony on Tuesday for working to reverse the results of the 2020 election, with the Justice Department acting to hold him accountable for an unprecedented attempt to block the peaceful transfer of presidential power and threaten American democracy.

The quadruple indictment, the third criminal case against Trump, provided deeper insight into a dark moment that has already been the subject of extensive federal investigations and captivating public hearings.

But the Trump campaign labeled the charges bogus and questioned why it took the Justice Department two and a half years to file the charges.

Speaking to Newsmax, Trump Jr attempted to provide an answer.

“Because he’s leading in the polls,” Trump Jr. said. to presenter Rob Schmitt. “Because they’re afraid he’ll become president and dismantle the one-party, dismantle the deep state. I don’t believe in this level of coincidence anymore.’

Trump Jr. further pointed out that each of Donald Trump’s three indictments came close to damaging revelations about President Biden’s son, Hunter, declaring, “We live in a banana republic!”

The sentiment mirrors that of irate Republicans labeling Trump’s third indictment a “witch hunt,” handily timed to come a day after Devon Archer testified about the Biden family’s deals.

“Less than 24 hours ago, Congress heard testimony from Hunter Biden’s longtime business partner that Joe Biden participated in Hunter’s business conversations more than 20 times,” said GOP conference chair Elise Stefanik.

“Today’s sham indictment against Donald Trump is another desperate attempt to divert attention from mounting evidence of Joe Biden’s direct involvement in his family’s illegal influence scheme.”

Even in a year of swift legal reckoning for Trump, Tuesday’s indictment, which included charges including conspiracy to defraud the US government he once headed, was stunning in its accusations that a former president attacked the “fundamental function” of democracy .

It is the first time the defeated president, who is the early front-runner for next year’s Republican presidential nomination, has faced legal ramifications for his ultimately failed attempt to stay in power.

“The attack on our nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021, was an unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy,” said Jack Smith, a Justice Department special counsel whose office has spent months investigating Trump.

“It was fueled by lies, lies by the defendant, aimed at obstructing a fundamental function of the U.S. government: the national process of collecting census records and certifying the results of the presidential election.”

Because of the “dishonesty, fraud and deception” by Trump and some of his close allies, the indictment says, his supporters “violently attacked the Capitol and halted proceedings.”

The Trump campaign called the allegations “fake” and asked why it took them two and a half years to file.

Trump has said he did nothing wrong and has accused Smith and the Justice Department of trying to damage his 2024 campaign.

It comes as the judge appointed to oversee the former president’s latest criminal case was revealed. D.C. Federal Judge Tanya Chutkan, who was declared “the harshest punisher” of rioters charged with offenses related to Jan. 6, and wworked at a law firm associated with Hunter Biden.

In an Associated Press profile written last year, they said: “Chutkan handed down harsher sentences than the Justice Department demanded in seven cases, answered his requests in four others, and sent all 11 riot defendants who have come before her behind her. the bars.’

The article, titled “In Cases of January 6, 1 Judge Stands Out as the Most Harsh Punisher,” continues: “In the four cases where prosecutors sought no jail time, Chutkan gave jail terms ranging from 14 days to 45 days.”

The AP article continued that, despite prosecutors not asking, Chutkan jailed “an Ohio couple who climbed through a broken window of the US Capitol.”

Nominated by former President Barack Obama, the 61-year-old was born in Jamaica and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania law school.

Chutkan worked at the Boies Schiller Flexner law firm from 2002 until she was confirmed as a federal judge in 2014.

Boies Schiller has strong ties to the Democratic Party, and then-second son Hunter Biden — whose father is likely to face Trump in the 2024 election — served as a consultant at the company from 2009 to 2014.
