We just got a hint that we might have to pay more for the iPhone 17
- Price increases for the iPhone 17 are expected

It’s a pretty safe bet that the iPhone 17 will break through coverage sometime in September 2025, but how much will it cost? Well, more so than the iPhone 16, if recent comments from an industry analyst are to be believed.
Commenting on a guest lecture (via @Jukanlosreve), senior researcher Jong Wook Lee of the Samsung Securities Research Center has said that “iPhone prices are expected to rise next year” – after no price increases in 2024.
The iPhone 16 price currently starts at $799 / £799 / AU$1,399, which matches the launch price of the iPhone 15 (although that phone now retails for less). The 2024 model was even AU$100 cheaper than the 2023 model. Australia.
According to Lee, this means that Apple will increase prices this time, although we don’t know how much they will increase. So far, we haven’t actually heard much about iPhone 17 price leaks.
The price is right?

While we don’t know how much the iPhone 17 will cost, we can look at current prices. We’ve already mentioned the iPhone 16, and the iPhone 16 Plus starts at $899 / £899 / AU$1,599 for the lowest amount of storage.
The iPhone 16 Pro costs $999 / £999 / AU$1,799 and up, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at a hefty $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,149. We’ll have to wait and see if the price hikes will affect some or all iPhone 17 models.
And there are rumors that a new model is coming to replace the iPhone 16 Plus: the iPhone 17 Air. That phone is apparently going to cost you $1,299 (about £1,030 / AU$2,045), which would be a significant jump over the handset it replaces.
With iPhone 16 Plus sales reportedly not being what they could be, perhaps a change in design can help – and of course a higher price often means more money per device for Apple. We can expect to see some more price leaks between now and September.
